One thing to note is that the charitable thing I mentioned here ended up being done through Frankie and Bird of the Birdshot IV channel. So thanks very much for that Indiana knives, and Frankie and Bird!

When you consider that the ZT's full titanium framelock offerings come in at 5.45 oz (0562TI, 3.5" blade) and 6.24 oz (0220, 3.5"), I think keeping it under 6 oz with stainless steel is quite impressive for a budget knife.

If Chris Reeves hadn’t invented the frame-lock, and Kit Carson hadn’t introduced the flipper, and NASA or whatnot hadn’t developed titanium... what the hell would folding knife makers even be producing?

Mine came perfectly centered and no grittiness at all. Smooth as silk, great action. I love it and I have a big collection with far more expensive knives. I think you received a bad one, just like my first Ruike knife(p801) has a non existent detent and I have to push my fingers against the lockbar just to get it to flip out. I guess it's hit or miss.

Nick, Since the P801 and the P108 (love these names), Ruike has been one of my favorite brands (as a budget/Sanrenmu fan at heart). I am glad that you are no longer mispronouncing their name (Roo-way-kee) because (despite their awkward naming pattern) they are worthy of recognition and pronunciation.

So this is no problem for me, I own the delica, rat 2, and rat 1 so i can get a good idea of how big the knives are. But I showed my brother these videos and he has some trouble understanding the size because he owns mostly swiss army knives and ozark trails from wal-mart. I think that a useful size comparison could be a dollar bill. I believe you did one with a 5 dollar bill on the dragonfly, and it seems to be a much more practical size comparison than some knives that people don't have.

Great review and video again Nick! But i bought this knife and have it for 1 month now and between my Sencut Serene and Maverick i have been carrying this 1 very often! Leaving in the deep North part of Canada you always have on you a Pocket knife and a Survival 1 on the belt! Until today, eventhow i gave it a good ride a few times still working great! I did not have to sharp it yet just a few strop here and there but i realy like it! I think , of course for a budget knife in comparaison of a few expensives 1 i have in my collection, i think you were a bit ruff on it! I love the look, the spine til the point angle, 2 of my friend bought it also!! But like i said for a budget knife i give it an 7.5 - 8! Continue your great work and God bless from the Deep North! Frank,

I got this knife about 6 months ago and honestly I love it for the price. Yes it's heavy and big and the grind deff makes it look uncentered, but the one I got was very smooth out of box. The detent was a little soft. And I ended up grinding jimping notches on the flipper tab. Because admittedly the flipper tab was very slippery. But all in all the knife I GOT was a really great buy for $50. But then again I can only speak for the one I got. This is deff way to big a too heavy to be called a gem by nick. But if your into a little bit bigger knives I'd check it out.

Owned this for about a year now. Much like the Viteli Top 1 with lesser materials. Good-looking grind. The safety lock is nice feature but I could use some jimping on the tab.

In the same price category, I got a pretty amazing piece from twosun knives, ts21. Ti framelock flipper, milled clip, mine was incredibly smooth. I'm not gonna tell you to review a knife, but if you stumble across one; at least take a look.

I recently got the TS21 as well and it's a great knife. Especially so at the price point they're still going for, before more of the knife community discovers them.

The action on mine requires all kind of wrist, but I dig the overall design. The blade shape makes makes me feel like it’s a beater version of the 808 Loco.

I need an explanation why it s a gimic? The design is a gimic, so its a nice design so its a gimic... That's one of the first things you've said that I don't agree with and don't make sense. Its not Tryn to be titanium, I mean knives were made from steel lookn like that then before titanium came about for handles
@paranoiia8
@paranoiia8 Жыл бұрын
You expected good review from guy that base his reviews on price of the knife before it's quality and say that s30 steel is meh at best... After watching most of his reviews you ca clearly see that if that design was made by we or spyderco and it would cost 300-500 he would say that design is nice and unique... Not to mention even in this review he say that it's weird that product look expensive... Like the hell?! Like it is is bad thing?

To me the Kershaw Bareknuckle has a lot more to offer in a similar price point. They are similar in looks. It is much lighter and has good action. The aluminum scales avoid the problem of weight this one has. I like the blade better and the steel is solid. To top it off it is American made. But that is just my two cents from another random jackass. Great review as always. Thanks.

Seems like you’d prefer not to review budget knives. So why even bother? All you do is compare them to more expensive knives... which isn’t exactly fair. At least (in this case) compare to other frame lock flippers at similar cost. Just my 2 cents... which you didn’t ask for.

I would expect it's on the basis of trying to establish an objective comparison. If an item that that genuinely compete with other items in a different tax bracket, than that would be worth highlighting. Most budget shoppers (like me) can accept our purchases come with some compromises compared to top of the line models. Nobody expects their 2003 Toyota Camry can to match up to a Dodge Challenger with a Hellcat engine. If you were able to purchase a $1500 used car that could nose out a modded sports car at the drag track then that's worth talking about on its own merits, and then you get to boast about how you didn't sink a year's salary into it. That situation is an impossibility with cars. It is not an impossibility with items that are simpler to produce like knives, pens, and watches. Nick mentions that quartz watches both out perform mechanical movements and trend at a lower price. $100 pens he's reviewed have been noted to be worth less than $50 pens he's reviewed. It's harder to produce a budget friendly knife that has quality control and fit & finish similar to luxury pieces. There are limits, of course, but consider Casio in the watch world. Nobody needs to give Casio pity points for being cheap, but most folks can recognize they're producing watches (and calculators!) which either match or outclass watches which cost two or ten times more on functionality and arguably on aesthetics. In short, I'd like to know what products have to offer in terms of objective pros and cons irrespective of their price. Most products are out of reach for me right now in terms of cost, but I'd rather not compromise and invite something into my life that I'll be stuck with just because it's cheap. Sometimes you have options, but if funds are limited it's not worth wasting your limited resources on subpar gear.
