just from this clip, I can see that this was a really bad remake of a classic movie. This looks like a high school play version of a Broadway play. This is utter garbage. This is a desperate grab for money. They could have made a sequel showing the next generation, but instead they remade it with less quality, less reality, it's an after school special telling us not to do drugs, while simultaneously passing a joint to their friends.

It's supposed to be a musical and in musicals, it's always looks kinda obvious that they are on stage speaking to an audience. The OG movie really felt due to its single-cam setting like you're diving live into girl world through the eyes of Cady, that's characteristic for movies like that, that you're supposed to emphasize with the characters. They adapted the 2004 movie into a musical, of course there would be changes, especially about how the audience would perceive the characters. Not hating or something, just saying that musicals are different when it comes dowm to the way and the authencity of the narrative

That's why I don't like the idea of remakes/rebrands in our current society. People always expect the new thing to be exactly like the old one, although it's an ADAPTATION which logically has a lot of changes. If the Mean Girls musical was exactly like the 2004 movie, people would call it a rip-off, hence remakes can only lose. Like, if you liked the old one, then watch the old one, but don't trash on the new adaptation and the young generations that are watching them. I'd rather have an adaptation that made some changes and gave it a unique flavour than an adaptation that's 1:1 like its template, because the second would be unnecessary. But some people seem to hate adaptations in general 😅

Honestly, Renée Rapp is a gorgeous Regina, but am I the only one who thinks that she or the actors in general looked a little bit to old to be high-schoolers? Like, Rachel McAdams, the OG Regina, was 26 when she played Regina, however Regina still passes as a 16/17 years old. However, the new Regina, there's no way that you would think she was a teen. She looks like a famous pop star in her mid twenties to early thirties instead of a high-schooler. In general, everyone looks so mature, you can easily think that the entire movie plays out in a college setting instead of a high-school setting
