Seeing you build out on these concepts helps me get my head out of the clouds. My prep has become so much more efficient, thank you!

Interesting approach. I default to making rumours after I've made (a level of) the dungeon, but this is worth trying out.

Thanks! Yeah I was intrigued by it too when I read it, so I thought I’d give it a go. Working backwards definitely has its benefits when I get to designing the dungeon as you’ll see in the next video.

found your channel a while back and have watched all your vids multiple times as inspiration and instruction for my own sandbox game! Love your work, keep it up!

Love this, your use of the world without numbers certainly showcases its power. Going to use it to help build this local dungeon I am hoping the players explore after their main mission, but with sandboxes as you know... there are no promises!

Thanks! Kevin Crawford makes great games and material for GMs always like to showcase it when I can.

A few additions about rumors from the old modules... in Judges Guild's JG113 The Book of Treasure Maps 1 the suggestion is PCs know 1d4 rumors - 1-3 normal rumors, or, on the roll of a 4, a single inverted rumor, basically a bastardized version you can get creative with. In TSR 9045 L1 The Secret of Bone Hill by Len Lakofka, lower-level NPCs know less rumors whereas higher-level NPCs have roughly a 10% per level chance to start talking about false rumors circulating to put them to bed. If players ask about false rumors, I'd naturally have those put to bed by higher-level NPCs. Of course it's not a given that our PCs can automatically get an audience and/or ingratiate themselves with higher-level folks, and not every town has a retired adventurer running the general goods store...

Assuming I ever find a group, I want to do one of those topsy turny dungeons like Stone Tower Temple or like a giant ghostly castle full of ghosts and wraiths and you need to light the whole way

Also i had a dumb idea, what if there was a Tavern with a SCP like door, it special properties are it morphs realm based off what people say about it and the Owner catches on so he pays people to make up a range of stories and sends teams in to see ir they can get any real shinies. 😅 They got a tavern that leads to a Dungeon, i am sure this would be something some magic cyptrobro would do. 😂

I have read that starting with rumors is the most difficult way to build a dungeon. Yay! More Worlds Without Number 🌐 My players would clear the dungeon and convert it into a black market and brothel 🥷🛍🍆 I suspect this procedure will be very useful AFTER the dungeon has been designed.

You could use it either way and it would work just fine. I enjoyed having the list to work from as I built out the dungeon (as seen in the forthcoming video).
