that beginning riff is very reminiscent of zeppelin while the main riff reminds me of sabbath. these ladies really don't receive as much credit as they deserve. they were fuckin' badass

Nothing else like them. I fell head over heals in love with these powerful girls in the 1970's. Absolute amazing musicians. Lita Ford on the guitar? Just a teenager!~ She is right up there with Angus from ACDC.

Great performance of this song. Lita and the rest of the girls really tear it up. Nice to hear the audience screaming and appreciating the history in the making.

What a great live performance of this song. Impressed with how strong and cleanly, Cherie (sp?) nailed this song (one flubbed note aside) considering it's clearly not in her comfortable range. I don't think I fully appreciated what a good singer she is when I was a kid.

One of the Runaways very best songs. They are smokin'! I hope that the movie will revive interest in the Runaways and maybe they can finally make some well deserved money and recognition for their work. Cherie is simply fantastic! The band still rocked later, but they never sounded as good vocally without her.

Excellent! I wasn't familiar with this song until I found it while searching for Runaways clips. Thanks so much for the post, CherieO. This song was ahead of its time. The drum beat (R.I.P., Sandy) at the very beginning sounds like a precursor to "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2. And the guitar lick (I see you, Lita!) from 0:25 to 0:41 could have been the inspiration behind "Alive" by Pearl Jam.

@510cmarie, According to Jackie, Lita was not. It's the way Cherie portrayed her in her book Neon Angel. I had thought the same thing. Jackie told me that "Lita doesn't get the credibility that she deserves" and left it at that.

Thanks again :)

@charmedpikis92, well that's probably why she did name it that, Neon Angel anyway. I know a lot about the band 'cause they are my all time fave band. I'm the same age they are & I bought each album as they were released. As my sis recalls, every 5 minutes as a teen I was talking about the Runaways. I had to enjoy their music all alone because no one I knew either never heard of them or didn't care about that kind of music. It would have been great if I had had a friend to enjoy their music with.

No, it's after the bad spot on the tape, when she sings "Now's the time for our desire"
@amberfwn14 жыл бұрын
@charmedpikis92, Jackie stated she was a bit surprise that Cherie named her book after that song because she didn't like to sing it. I have no doubt Cherie let Kim know but you how Kim was. Not only that but when you're on the road sining it almost daily, your voice gets hoarse and then after that, it goes out. Jackie had written that when the arrived in Chicago, both Joan and Cherie had lost their voice and that gig had to be cancelled.

@charmedpikis92, No, unfortunately not. I remember when they came to my city. On their first tour the first city was Cleveland and the newspaper had an article about them, I still remember reading about it and it had a large photo of them wondering who these ladies were. So when did you first hear about The Runaways?

@heyjudette It is my greatest hope that the movie will introduce a new audience to the Runaways music. I still haven't seen the movie. I just cringe at the thought of it. Out of the old Runaways fans of talked to, my avoidance seems justified. It amazes me now, just how good they really were. A lot of the music I listened to as a teenybopper just doesn't measure up to my listening standards today. The Runaways (especially the Queens of Noise album) sound great!

I would like to know if the actual music of The Runaways will be in the movie. If done nicely that would be kick ass. For the documentary made by Vicki Blue the last bass player of the band it didn't contain any of the music written from Joan Jett. I thought I heard Joan is producing this movie.... if so I hope all their tunes will be in it. They could almost make a Rock Opera!!~ Okay getting wayyy to ahead of myself here.
