I think the reason the Austrian front collapsed so easily is that since you’re starting in 1914, they haven’t had time to entrench with all the entrenchment bonuses.

Russian historian here, sooooooo 1. Demobilisation of Soviet Russia is a lore thing, commies main point was to end war, so after Brest-Litovsk treaty they were fobbiden to have an army. They created Red Guard, but 1918-1919 lack of man, motivation and expirience were apperent 2. White movement wasnt for the Tsar (except for little regiments of Drozdovky), Kornilov, Kolchak - all of them were autocrats with the republican plans for the whole Russia (with Ukraine and Finland, this is one of the reasons, why nobody supported them) 3. Kolchak wasnt the main guy in this war, there is nothing in Siberia at this point. He was accepted as Supreme ruler of Russia by the White generals of the south, because there was noone in south Russia to claim the spot (Kornilov was dead by now, no political ambitions from others) I can elaborate if you want more info, really difficult topic, as all civil wars are

fun fact: the dozen or so divisions spawning in Yekaterinodar is ment to be a representation of the Ice March basically the city sided with the Bolsheviks, but was attacked by the Volunteer army when they lost Rostov famously, Lavr Kornilov died in the battles over the city, handing over the command to Denikin

if you wanna play Russian Civil War try "revolution or reaction: rise of russia". It's focused solely on the Civil War, although I'm not sure if there's an english version of it because naturally the mod is in Russian. But it's high quality with a shitload of paths

22:05 I believe that's to represent something that actually happened in history - on 29 January 1918 the then-head of the Red Army Nikolai Krylenko demobilised the _entire_ Red Army and sent it home even though the war wasn't, technically speaking _actually over._ This resulted in the Germans and Austrians launching _Operation Faustschlag_ which took vast swathes of territory against practically non-existent opposition. That's right; the only time the Austro-Hungarians did well in the war was against an opponent who had actually called it quits and gone home.

Everything else resulted in only minor changes to the front (especially along the Isonzo) with the exception of Vittorio Veneto, which resulted in the collapse of the front for the Central Powers

I had an... Interesting encounter in GWRedux last time I played it. I played as Germany, but kept Iron Man off for a particular reason: i temporarily tagged over to AH so i could get the focus to save Franz Ferdinand done before tagging back to Germany. I was basically trying to force France to declare rather than either AH or myself so Britain would not get involved. I actually succeeded, capping Russia then swinging back around to blitz france head on while also launching a naval invasion in northern france. The gambit worked perfectly, france also capped, ending the war without the US or Britain getting involved whatsoever. The interesting encounter I referred to at the beginning of this was that Russia ended the war as a democracy. So at some point during the whole scenario i capped them during one of the timeframes to save Russian democracy, as bittersteel put it. I didnt know how this could have happened (I've never played GWRedux Russia) till I watched this video lol

If you are interested in playing as someone in Russian Civil War, I really recommend you to check "Rise of Russia" mod (Pretty weird name for a mod about one of the worst periods in Russian history ngl). It's really well made and can offer you a good challenge

You can try to play ad the second volunteer army in Kaiserredux, it is pretty hard, and felt like a Russia civil war. If you want a BIG challenge, try the West Russia Army, you don't even have cores on Russia during the civil war.

As for pure russian civil war gameplay, try mod Revolution or Reaction: Rise of Russia. It completely focuses on Russian civil war, and it shows how shitted Russia was those days. (I hope it has english localisation). For example try the Izhevsk start.

Hey Bitt3r, love your content - it’s actually what got me into hoi4 last year (I now have 1,000+ hours). I’d love to see some kaiserredux content. Some fun paths to take are: - Horthy’s Fiume (start as Austria) - Great Lechia (meme-path Poland) - Lovecraft’s New England - Monarchist Russia (if you play things right, you can get Nicholas II back). Monarchist Russia has really cool coring mechanics (when compliance in ex-imperial lands get high enough, you core them). - Qing Imperial Authority under Puyi (the Manchu restoration path) is fun - any Chinese play-throughs are very battle-royale. - Göringia (play as Mittelafrika with Göring until it collapses). There are hundreds of other paths in this mod, but these are some of my favourites because they have very fun content (Lechian Poland is essentially against the whole world). -

Kaiserredux actually has a civil war you can trigger in the first few months through events and it isnt a broken buggy mess and there are actual armies fighting, where the different groups are split up too its really cool and better than whatever the hell this mess was.
