Vasily Arkhipov was a Soviet naval officer in 1962, the same time when Soviet Union and United States were locked in a cold war. This was the most tense time of the cold war - the Cuban missile crisis - when Arkhipov was posted in a submarine, which was near the harbor of Cuba. The actions of Arkhipov, on the fateful day of 26 October 1962, saved the world from catastrophe.
