Hi Jake, here is my attempt to summarize for you what just happened in German politics: The entry of a far-right into the Bundestag has made the majority situation in parliament more complicated, not only because there are now more parties, but also because all democratic parties refuse to work with them. That is why we have had a coalition government for three years now consisting of three parties instead of just two as before. This coalition consisted of the Social Democratic Party, the Greens and the FDP (the so-called Liberals, although they are almost exclusively economically liberal nowadays). While SPD and the Greens have worked together quite well in the past (we already had an administration consisting of these two parties from 1998-2005), the FDP, which provided the finance minister and thus had control over the budget, regularly blocked legislative projects in order to push through its own agenda. On Wednesday, Chancellor Scholz finally had enough of that and fired Federal Finance Minister Lindner. As a result, this so-called traffic light coalition has now become a minority government until new elections are held. At the moment, everyone is arguing about when these will take place.

I'm from Germany, so I thought I might give you a quick explanation about what happened here in Germany during last week: The parties involved in the ruling coalition weren't able to find a compromise in terms of the national budget for 2024 and 2025. In reaction to these difficult negotiations between the three ruling parties our minister of finances blocked further investments into Ukraine and every single investments that could create new debts. And after many discussions between our chancellor and our finance minister, our chancellor fired the minister of finances, which then became the reason for the collapse of our ruling coalition. In the end there will be a snap election to create a new government in the next few months, but every single party that may become the major ruling party is willingly to further support Ukraine. So there won't be any negative impacts on Ukraines war effort from this.

Their beef with Germany was only for them. They didn't declare war on Japan until it was clear Hiroshima was on the way.

Atricle 5 has been triggered only once, by the USA after 9/11, and Europe backed them. Most of Europe also backed Americans lying to them in 2003 about weapons of mass destruction. It's more ambitious then Trump's southern Wall at the Mexico/US border which he failed at in his first term. I remember back then when he was floating the idea of a wall at the Canadian border too. Come on we have the largest land border in the world and constantly pass over it on both sides of the prairies and or farmland by mistake just because of the sheer size. @@SpringIsBACK If the EU refuses then Trump will take that as Nato definitely not caring about their Allies, justifying him to cut off all aid including the sale of US weapons to Ukraine. What comes next is the EU and Nato in the Baltic States itself coming under attack, so the EU is going to have to come to reality and at least remove all restrictions to EU weapons. Germany, France, United Kingdom, all have home built Ballistic Missles and other Armored Fighting Vehicles they can send en mass before sending troops. It's hard to hear but Trump doesn't give a s**t about our Allies. He's going to end up hurting the American Economy almost more so then Europe as supporting Europe actually increased the US economy and jobs. Just brace for it, Elon Musk has even said the people will have to suffer temporarily before it gets better.

As I told Jake a long time ago, Trump said no deal with Russia retaining the lands they invaded. Winter is coming and the Russians are going to be suffering at home. Ukraine invading Kursk area of Russia showed Putin that he could be hurt and with Trump, I expect the restrictions to be pulled off the long range weapons unless Russia leaves the occupied areas. Meanwhile the US will supply Europe with natural gas and Russia won't have that for income.

This is the angle that has to be put forward to the public. Ending the war in Ukraine by encouraging Ukraine to cede any land only signals to Russia and Putin that they can use force to claim land without relative political consequence. They'll do the same thing again in less than a decade, same as they did invading this time after invading and taking Crimea. If he takes such a position, he'll be admitting to weakness and hopefully Trumps political opponents hammer in the 'appeasement is weakness' nail.

As if any of that would bother Trump or his supporters. The naked Melania photos were shot when she was already married to Trump. He even lend the photographer his plane as a background for some of those photos. Trump doesn't care the world sees Melania naked. He married her to be his arm candy, not because he loved her. He doesn't mind his arm candy to be seen. If anything, it proves to him that he's powerful because he got to attract "such a beautiful lady, just look at her, doesn't she have the best body" - read the last part in his voice, it's totally something he'd openly say at his rallies. The same goes for any "pee tapes" if they even exist (personally, I think it has always been just about money promised, borrowed, or otherwise given to Trump). He got caught on tape bragging about SAing women before he got elected the first time. Did anyone care? Billy Bush, the show host who got caught on the same tape laughing about what Trump said got fired, but Trump got elected. Will be the same with any Epstein stuff. People don't care, Trump will claim the girl claimed to have been 18 and look at what a great womanizer he is, isn't he a man's man. And his supporters will love him for it. Because a lot of them think women are property, not people. Just look at the internet right now and all the incels coming out of their holes and posting nasty shit at women, like "Your body, my choice. Forever.". Trump normalized that behavior.

I know there isn't currently a big push in the US for that kind of electoral reform, but depending on how Trump's term goes domestically, it isn't impossible for such a drive to manifest. If it does, I would very much recommend you to support it. Not going to lie, the chances of success especially in a short time-frame are exceedingly slim, but it really is a massively healthy thing for democracy.
