Personally the sad part about the attack on Cirenholm (and the Phantine campaign in general) is that Fazalur's men were only a footnote in the liberation of their own world, being even fewer in number than the Tanith (IIRC the Phantine could field only about 2 company's worth of men)
@knowplay325822 күн бұрын
I think that's because Phantine only really had a small PDF force and that's it for ground troops. Since almost every single person from Phantine that volunteered for the Imperial Guard was a pilot/flight crew, I don't think Phantine really had any legit infantry or other ground troops. Fun fact: Phantine provided soldiers as part of the tithe to the Imperium like most other worlds...these soldiers being in the form of pilots and flight crew...to the Imperial GUARD, not the Imperial NAVY. Phantine didn't provide companies or regiments to the IG, Phantine provided flight wings and squadrons to the IG. These squadrons were under IG command, not the Imperial Navy. So...the squadrons from Phantine are the only pilots in the Imperial Guard. This fact is made into a relevant plot point in the novel, Double Eagle by Dan Abnett. Oh yes, the crashed Phantine fighter pilot of Cirenholm that fought alongside the Tanith, Commander Jagdeer, she is the main character of the novel Double Eagle.

I seem to remember somewhere (probably in the Sabbat Crusade Anthology) That one of the worlds in the Cabal Sector, probably Urdesh itself, was famous for the production of shielding... 25:00 I understand the grim dark trop of super contaminated industrial planets but I do wonder wouldn't the Imperium have at least some technology to mitigate that level of contamination I mean they had to know not doing anything abou the enviorment would turn a world with important resources into a Dead World. Like they are not doing it because they Ecologist is just for basic survival of the population they need for an important resource. Is not like they can't have world with decent eviorment, most are just because otherwise the Imperium wouldn't have the massive numbers of population it has. So would it be just incompetence of the local goverment and the burocracy of the Imperium not carring enough?
@tarektechmarine820922 күн бұрын
A bit of both. But how do you plan for hundreds of years ahead when the fuel you drill is a must in as large a volume as needed. The planet itself may have not been anything special, cause I would struggle to explain why the imperium would ruin a good world other than grimderp. The aerial cities may be proof that the planet was never meant to be settled.

@@tarektechmarine8209unfortunately in the book they mention you can still see parts of the old cities down in the cloud layer, the mountain cities were an emergency measure as the surface became so contaminated

That tends to be part of the tragedy of warhammer, the imperium can only function BECAUSE it is a meatgrinder. Could they establish worlds where they are self sufficient? Of course! But the imperial warmachine demands tribute. They need constantly new sources of ore, fuel, food, etc to maintain it's eff off big army which doesn't actually produce any of these things. So the only way to do that is sacrifice everything for the sake of aquiring as much resources as possible as fast as possible, because the entire system will collapse on itself if it slows down even a little. Yes, making a self sustaining agriworld is good...if you aren't needing to feed the population of 12 more worlds and reducing your output for even a length of time means millions starve. So you are going to strip that planet completely bare of nutrients as fast as possible and pray the Astra Militarum can conquer another planet suitable as an agriworld to replace it before the fertilizer runs out. They're essentialy a runaway train that's laying down track just as quick as the train moves. It's everything they can do just to keep up. A setup of their own making thanks to the emperors demand of compliance as quickly as possible, and then no way to slow down without toppling the house of cards.
