Fun Quaker story: my grandfather's family (Gifford) came over early on in Colonial Massachusetts, and they were Quakers who had left England. At that time, Massachusetts was a strictly Puritan colony. You had to be registered members of the Puritan church to be considered full citizens. So one many times great grandfather of mine got in trouble with the Massachusetts law for "fornication outside of marriage". He had remarried in the colony, as his wife had passed on the voyage over. *But* their marriage in the Society was not recognized by Puritan law. Thus he was fined. The family ended up moving out and being one of the founding families of New Jersey before my branch left for Kentucky post-Revolution and lost the Quaker religion somewhere around then (or before as several of them fought in the Revolution). My great-grandmother moved to the county I grew up in back in Pennsylvania with her kids when her husband died - her family was a founding family there. The story about the family being Quakers originally is hilarious to anyone who know them - my grandfather and his five brothers were known as partiers, drinkers, wild boys. And they all fought in WWII.

I definir thought about changing colors but Brenda is so good at choosing her colors. It does give it more of a worn look and then I did use the Primitive Gathering Distress spray to age it more. If you like it brighter I think a darker blue or I think Freedom. I think that’s Classic Color would look good. Happy stitching ❤😊❤😊❤😊❤

Linny, I am working on the American Blue that you have. I am doing mine with while floss over mottled blue. I do not know why the the boarder on the left sure needs concentration. It might be due to this 80 year old stitcher. The stitching is great occupational therapy after a stroke last year. But . . . I can still count, chuckling. The love the videos.

Oh the enabling in this video! I love all the patriotic charts. I would love to stitch flag. I’m working on several patriotic stitches - I just started hen peck and home sweet home and want to start summer hill. I want to stitch some tomatoes and more patriotic. I’m having carpal tunnel surgery in a few weeks so that’s going to put a damper on my plans. Hopefully I can get back to sewing lots soon! It’s sure slowed my down this year. Have a great few weeks! Love your video! So many beautiful projects. I'm currently working on Lila's Studio's Summer Quaker, Simple Pleasures by Chris Dunn from Paine Free Crafts, Spring Garden by the Drawn Thread, Poodle in the Rain and Mysterious Black Cat Superstition both from Stitches Sew Beautiful (my kids picked those for their rooms), and a couple of stockings that my children picked out. I love the quilting content as well as I'm a quilter. I love to gather linen. :)

Flag. Working on Summer at the Shore, Full Moon Farm, June's Honeysuckle, and many more. FYI: the tannic acid from a cooled tea bag dabbed on the poison ivy will stop the itch. Also the herb, Sweet Fern, from Native Americans and my Irish Great-Aunt. I've used both with great success. Feel better.

My goodness ladies - You look absolutely elegant today!!! Happy anniversary to You and Your husband Lenny! We will be celebrating our 26th anniversary in November (My sweet husband Randy thought that having our wedding on31 the day after Thanksgiving would make it easy for Him to remember [forgetting that Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November - not a specific date!!]) But we have been together for 31 years!! It was a 2nd marriage for me, so I was 40 when we meant!!! As Y'all say it is a commitment and I tell people who cross stitch that I know - it's the longest running wip (work in progress) that I have, lol. Roberta’s retreat stitching mat is beautiful! Looks very well made. Her round box is stunning. The calico color matches perfectly with the stitching. I like Roberta’s finishing more than what the chart shows. There are certainly many patriotic charts to choose from. Working on wrapping up my PS Santa to start on patriotic & strawberry stitching. Loved the Patriotic parade! I am about finished with One Nickle Needle which leans patriotic due to coloring - missing a floss, hoping it is delivered this week. because I get tired of stitching with the same colors all the time, I switched to SUMMER by SWTH. But also started This Happy Morning a couple of weeks ago - to the fill in the barn part. The right side is a doosie! Need to finish the quilt squares of Part 4 and 5 for Quilting A Bee Cs. Putting off pulling out North Pole Chamber of Commerce - I am to the 2nd part of part 3 (stitching them all together) and have a hard time getting back to it. TONS of color changes and backstitching - of course - it is a Sue Hillis pattern. Also have Silver Creek's Christmas Rules started but it is on 27 ct lugana and I much prefer to stitch on 18 ct. so slow going and I have to readjust my eyes each time - and there are a million flosses! I seem to be drawn to the big patterns with a million flosses I guess! Think after I finish Summer I will throw a small patriotic in the mix. I have been looking for the Brenda Gervais Grand Olde Flag II you are giving away but it is OS almost everywhere. Enjoy your floss tubes!

Thank you Ladies! I enjoyed your floss tube today and all the info on Quaker samplers. Wow very impressed at the stashes of patriotic stitching! I'm impressed that there are retreats! I must learn more about this and save some $$ to attend one. I'm currently stitching a Christmas stocking for my youngest grandson, it is Holiday Workshop Heirloom Stocking by Sandy Orton. My mom had made all the family stockings (she has since passed) so the 2 youngest needed stockings and I wanted them to match their dad's. Also, i'm working on "Sow Kindness" by Hands To Work.
