Nice, didn't know they literally had a painted band on the helmet!

It was quite a common practice in the Mediterranean for soldiers to paint their helmets and armour. The Hoplites of Greece are a very good example of this, as they often highly decorated their helmets with paint and engravings.

11:37 PM 6/6/2022 What I related to current day military to the Sacred Band of Carthage is a social class thing. Yes I made it into Sacred Band. But this is Carthage not Sparta.

These are briliant. What software do you use to create your videos?
@AncientHistoryGuy6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And i use pixelmator to design the figures and backgrounds (basically photoshop for macs), I then animate in keynote, which is a presentation software, and I do all my final edits in Final Cut Pro. I record audio in Logic Pro X :)

I’m willing to bet it was the Greek and Roman that got that from the Carthaginians

The Xiphos was a stabbing weapon as opposed to the kopis which could slash and hack, you could cut with a xiphos but why waste your time...a stab kills in half the time a slash does.

They were not copies of Greek armor and weapons. Phoenician cities developed the cuirass armor set which was later adopted by the Ionian Greeks. The Magonid clan of Carthage also developed the combined arms model of warfare which saw Carthaginian infantry use Pilas and Gladiuses. These developments were Phoenician. Also, the Sacred Band carries a long history in Semitic cultures with their Advent in Byblos predating the Greeks. It's when the Greeks acculturated to Phoenician pantheon worship that THEY copied them.

6:43 PM 10/5/2020 Its a social class thing. Yeah Im good enough to be in the Sacred Band of Carthage. I never cared for this social class drama these officers cry and make a big deal about how much they suck at life. Its kind of like that amongst these warvets. There is something similiar in society amongst these warvets. Its this regular military infantry vs special force types who are all infantry too. Its the same conversation with these other warvets who arent combat MOS types. I want add onto this. WHERE DO YOU LOOK AT YOURSELF IN THIS? Is he reading this? You are suppose to be above society. If you put yourself in society you are a pilot in airforce right? Im not judging you. You got chewed out by an officer whos a Navy SEAL correct? You arent good enough to be in Sacred Band of Carthage and Im not trying to laugh or pick on you about it. "standards" conversation again as an officer?
