The Bottled Imp - Episode 48
War is coming! Oh yes, the forces of light and dark are gathering their strength once again to do battle. A line has been drawn between heaven and the abyss. Dare you cross that line and venture into the sacred pool?
The Bottled Imp takes a look at another a Talisman Revised 4th Edition expansion. This time it’s ‘The Sacred Pool’.
Another ‘mini’ expansion for Fantasy Flight’s Talisman, The Sacred Pool offers players 4 new Character Cards with corresponding detailed plastic figures, 3 Alternative Endings Cards, 72 Adventure and 16 Spell Cards to shuffle into the base game decks; plus 12 Stable Cards, 4 Neutral Alignment Cards and 24 Quest Cards.
The main elements to this expansion are the Stable and Quest Reward Cards. With the Stable Cards, adventures can purchase a Mule (lets you carry an extra 4 objects), Horse and Cart (lets you can carry an extra 8 objects), Riding Horse (lets you roll 2 dice and add them together for your movement), and a Warhorse (lets you add your Craft value to your Strength during battle). Plenty to buy to upgrade your character.
With the Quest Reward Cards, after completing a Warlock’s Quest you may choose to accept a Quest Reward Card instead of the normal Talisman reward. These Quest Rewards vary from replenishing your fate back to your starting value, increase your Craft value by 1, and discard the Quest Reward Card to immediately take any card in the Purchase deck for free. All good questing rewards.
But a Talisman expansion wouldn’t be the same without new characters. The Sacred Pool gives us Magus, Dread Knight, Chivalric Knight, and Cleric. All come with their own Special Abilities and detailed plastic figures.
Also in the small box are 3 new Alternative Endings Cards. I’m not going to spoil these for you but let’s just say, they are all very different and add that extra layer of strategy to be victorious!
Please note: You will need Talisman Revised 4th Edition from Fantasy Flight Games to play The Sacred Pool Expansion.
