For context: A vitruvian is a kind of record used by the Orokin to preserve information. In order to build Umbra you are extracting info from it and learn that this vitruvian contains records about the Tenno's secret (the existence of the operators) and the nature of the Warframes. Ballas planned to betray the Orokin by sending this information to Hunhow, an ancient Sentient warlord trapped in the depths of Uranus. This leads directly to the quest The Second Dream. A Dax, a caste of servant warriors to the Orokin, learned about Ballas' plan and is caught. Rather than simply killing the Dax, Ballas fits him with a special transferance bolt (thing that allows ops to connect w/ wfs) that replays his last memory endlessly. Once the Helminth (strain of Infestation developed to make wfs) takes control of the Dax's will, Ballas orders the Dax (now converted to Umbra) to kill his son.

Think about this, The alien superpower inconceivable to one of the finest minds of the Orokin... was empathy and compassion. THAT is how far gone the Orokin Empire was. Its destruction was a necessity.

I know this might not get a lot of attention, but if you do tasks for Cephalon Cimaris he gives you a Synthesis Scanner. It functions like the codex scanner so you don't need both, and it gives you standing with Cimaris when you scan anything. One of the mods he sells for the synthesis scanner gives it infinite charges. If you pair that up with a Helios Sentinel, which you can buy the blueprint for in the Corpus Lab in the dojo, it will automatically scan the environment and enemies for you. You can use that to passively gain codex entries and data about enemies in your codex.

Lore Dump: Many eons ago, the Orokin violated their own laws about artificial intelligence and self-replicating machines by sending an army of terraformer drones to the Tau System; a nearby star system to house the Orokin when the Origin System finally ran out of viable resources and held too many people. However, these machines gained sapience (hence their name “The Sentients”), and realized that if the Orokin made it to Tau, they’d just repeat the same mistakes that crippled the Origin System. So one of them, Hunhow, led an army back the way they came to war against the Orokin in the hopes that they could wipe them out. The Orokin couldn’t use their high technology, as the Sentients would just corrupt it. They created the Infestation to try and use space zombies as a weapon, but that just made more problems; especially when Ballas made the Helminth Strain, which created powerful - yet uncontrollable - super soldiers. But then Margulis, Space Mom 1, made Transferrance Therapy in an effort to help the Zariman children (you). Ballas, her lover, discovered the project and fused it with his Warframes, creating what would become known as the Tenno, masters of gun and blade. But, after the execution of Margulis, Ballas concocted a plan, one that would bring victory to the Sentients, and bring him revenge. He told Hunhow of the Tenno, where the Operator bodies were kept safe, and how to earn their trust. Hunhow’s daughter, the Mimic Queen Natah, took on a form reminiscent of Margulis and concocted the personality of The Lotus (Space Mom 2) as a tool of infiltration. She would use the Tenno to kill the Orokin, then have the Tenno kill themselves. Umbra, one of the highest ranking Dax soldiers, overheard Ballas’ communications with Hunhow, but was discovered and captured before he could warn anyone. Ballas infected him with a modified strand of Excalibur Helminth, one that would make him forever relive the moment of killing his own son. In the modern day, your character ends up remembering exactly how you calmed down the first Warframes. Each of them was, like Umbra, once a person. By using Transferrance, the Tenno reach in and help the Helminth victim overcome their trauma (due to the Tenno’s own traumatic experience of being lost in the Void allowing them a greater degree of empathy “for somehow, from within the derelict horror, they found a way to reach inside an ugly, broken thing… and take away its pain”), thus rendering the Warframe docile and able to be “worn” like a suit of armor (except Umbra; he’ll actually fight alongside you while in Operator form!). Then, immediately after you calm Space Dad and help him fatally stab Ballas, Lotus arrives in her original Natah form, and whisks him away.

One of the top best quests. Also Hydroid is great its better to use him for like survival and disruption missions. Also if you get his augment mod Pilfering Swarm he's the best for looting it doubles your loot 100%

I've been enjoying your VoDs of this, as, like many other Warframe vets, it's great fun to watch new players get into the game. It's also a nice way to get a lore refresher! Ember's one of my faves lately, not just for the ASSets on that new Heirloom skin, but she's in a really great place power wise. If you like slicing things, you've got to check out Garuda and Valkyr. They both have built in claws. Khora too, maybe, though she has a "whipclaw", but it still cuts enemies up pretty good.

Doing the Sacrifice without an Amp is a very painful experience, I wish the game made it more clear you kinda need one... Still, props to you for making it trough without one!

yeah, you wanna know when I got my first amp? when the angel of zariman quest tells you to get an amp before you start the quest. because the game never really teaches you about amps. you meet onkko and thats kinda it, like you know that amps exist now but I didnt go out of my way to farm one. as a new player you are too busy doing all the quests and dont really farm for stuff unless the game literally tells you that you have to go out of your way to do so now. I think at this point it would be beneficial for newer players to get a little bit more hand holding from DE when introducing new mechanics. I did like 3 Eidolon Hunts with the standard amp before I figured how to craft a better one

Ah yes, Umbra. When the quest was launched and the Sentients can still adapt up to 80% of the damage, with one howl and BOOM their armor's gone. That's when I can feel *POWER* Dunno if chat had already told you or not, Umbra has a built-in auto-pilot (cuz y'know, he's still alive)

If you slide in the air after a bullet jump you won’t do hard landings like and can keep your momentum

Did you visit Onkko in Cetus on Earth before this? I don't see your operator wearing the amp. Maybe that's why you had so much trouble breaking Umbra's shields

when you visit Onkko, the game kinda fools you into thinking the amp was automatically equipped by having a cutscene of you putting it on, and after the cutscene while still on cetus the amp is still visibly on your operators arm. made me so mad when I realized it wasn't equipped 😭

13:20 and somehow people miss how simple it is. i understand not getting it at first. but it shouldnt take it too long to grasp. its pretty simple and very logical. the game even does the heavy leafting of showing them on screen once you find them. and yet. i saw people complaining about how unfair and dificult it is, im pretty sure i saw someone say they were just gonna brute force because they dont like moon logic. which is hilarious to me as someone who grew up playing lucasarts adventure games.
