Thank you @Evan Royalty for having me aboard what I consider to be among the gold standard of Machinima, and I've been in a few. Your cinematography, story development and attention to detail had me watching all the way through with a kind of interest machinima typically does not draw from me. I feel rekindled and ready to look for more quality machinima work just like this. Let's do full performance capture for a full-length machinima.

I have a theory on this. Many people say they don't understand what it's about. I think that "The Sacrifice" was his wife or girlfriend. He was being controlled mentally by the demons. He was dreaming/ put into another world but the different version of his. The demons was making him dream all of that and he was put under the circumstance that she was a demon. The only demon to get close to him was her. In the reality part she was trying to wake him up when in the dark version, she was the one trying to kill him in the meat factory. He was thanked by the leader of the demons for killing her/ sacrificing her, and then he was returned to the original world.

Very close on most of it, but one key detail changes much of the context for all that you've described.

When I read your critique on another GTA V machinima where you used the line "action/or/drama dictates camera movement" I knew I had to check your work out. This did not disappoint. Your direction, cinematography and most impressively your sound direction really came together into a piece of cinema that elevates the art of machinima beyond so much of what I've seen before. The hours you must have spent to get the sound just right were well worth it, there was not a second where the sound wasn't drawing me in to the story.
@tylerrobinett54238 жыл бұрын
You continue to amaze me. If I grow up to be a big time movie director or producer, I won't be saying my inspirations were people like Brian De Palma, Quinton Tarantino, or Steven Spielberg. I'll say, "My inspiration was from a guy I grew up watching on KZbin named 'Evan Royalty'". You are my favorite Storyteller.

Absolutely incredible. The way you built up tense in certain scenes where we would think there would be a jumpscare so we get prepared for it, but you wait too long so we let our guard down, as soon as we do, you do the jumpscare. The camera work is amazing and the animations that you used are good.

The cinematography and sound design of this is through the roof. Amazing work. Loved the 80s horror vibe of some of the soundtrack. I also enjoyed the semi-Stranger Things vibe that I felt in this one, not sure if that was intended? Anyway, you got the horror iconography and tone in perfectly. I grew up watching 80's horror movies, 'The Sacrifice' made me feel like a kid again. The tone and mood of the machinima was absolutely beautiful, especially the dust and scratches that made it feel old. The Cinematography and the soundtrack fits together well, and it gives out this chill down your spin. I would like to see more of this work in the near future, or a grind house machinima. The plot gave me goosebumps, and I would definitely watch this again. 10/10

Evan Royalty, this is seriously better than any of the giant shitty half-assed no brainer films Hollywood has put out in years! Great job dude I'm a very hard person to please and even harder to instill any sense of feeling, I genuinely felt a sense of dread! I tried to pick it apart and find cliche moments and couldn't find anything! the event timings were staggered from the score which caused a false scare and when a real scare occurred it really worked! I guess to sum my review in four words i guess they would be: "It was pure GENIUS!!!" mad props dude! I look forward to future films.

Dude, this transcended. I wasn't watching a GTA V machinima, I was watching a legitimate short film in it's own right. I recognized little things, like the apartment, certain clothing items, animations, and the like- but at the same time, it felt foreign. Like this was a fully storied cutscene from a game that wasn't GTA V. It was it's own beast. The voice acting was excellent, the music, pacing, framing, and restraint are also excellent. I'm just... floored.

Evan Royalty nice to see someone who understands good cinematography. your videos look very amazing and taking inspiration from other good horror films isn't a bad thing. the jump scares were earned by the tension you built. this is scarier than a lot of horror films these days. you earned a subscriber :)
@alexandercatz52148 жыл бұрын
Evan Royalty I wish I could see you could direct an actual vignette or horror anthology short. you obviously have a good understanding of pacing and direction. could even see a movie being made out of this. one thing I liked about this and harvest was that the questions never fully get answered. the less we know the scarier it is. it's very similar to Lovecraft's horror. I will definitely check out your other videos though because you obviously put a pain staking amount of work into them.
