I started playing animal jam in around 2016, and ive taken multiple breaks within the span of 8 years. Animal jam was my childhood, and it gives me huge nostalgia, which drives me back to the game every time. (I also returned in the beginning of this summer from a break) It is sad to see the game change so drastically, i remember there being countless roleplays and the pillow room was always full, but you have to remember people grow up, they may not be interested in roleplays anymore. After playing the game for so long it does get boring, ive seen all the seasonal events, the reskins etc etc, and the burnout; the trading and shopping economy is crazy, and i personally have tried getting into trading, but it feels kinda impossible, which also demotivates me. I also used to have an animal jam best friend but when they quit, so did I, momentarily. I’m not too familiar with the current state of the aj youtubers, but in animal jam’s peak there would be loads of giveaways, big aj creators and the community was a lot bigger, but now a majority have grown up and moved on, from my little experience, the current state of the aj youtubing community isnt too hopeful. Even so, I don’t think animal jam will be deleted anytime soon. The new animal designs have improved imo, the new ideas and the dungeons minigame are awesome additions! I also don’t believe the people working at ajhq are inherently money-hungry, since they do need money to keep the game running, i wish the bundles that cost real money would have something new and not be as overpriced, like an animal jam tails set for money is ridiculous, we want something new. I dislike the bundles, since a majority aren’t worth it, but in some cases they have been reasonable. Like a throwback bundle. I had an issue w the unicorns because they’re locked behind a paywall, and the tokens are overpriced. I also understand seeing the community as toxic, but from what i’ve seen, negativity gets a lot of views, the people who are negative and toxic get viewed more often and overshadow the positive people. From personal experience, majority of the players i’ve met have been nice, but obviously i don’t speak for everyone. Animal jam has survived for 14 years, counting in the animal jam classic release, and it’s a miracle it has survived this long. I love this game, and it is sad to see the changes, but i’m also looking forward to the new additions. I don’t mind people giving animal jam criticism, since hopefully it would help to better the game. This is a great video and sparked an interesting conversation :) (sorry for the long paragraph, this topic is really intriguing for me)

I remember years ago when I first started playing. I used to play it every day and have a blast. I do have to say, though despite me being negative towards the premium shop in Animal Jam I have to say some of the items are pretty good but the tails are kind of questionable. I doubt it, but I hope someday that animal jam comes back again in popularity but then again it’s been going on for a long time, by the way thank you :)

The only reason I don’t really play animal jam anymore is because it would keep deleting my account and I would lose all my progress and I don’t see any reason to play the game and decorate my den and save up to get cool pets if it’s all just going to go down the drain

I played AJPW in 2017/2018. I saw this in my recommended to see how it has changed, and from your commentary, seems it has changed a lot. I don’t remember exactly when I stopped playing, but all I remember is that Pest Control was new when I quit. But… uh, at least the customization seems the same.

i have so much nostalgia from this game... i remember playing like all day with my bestfriend at the time. i remember when i finally saved up enough sapphires to buy V.I.P and i was so happy. now with all the animals and items with crazy prices that change all the time and toxic players everywhere its just not fun:( ig this kind of thing happens to all games but it makes me so sad to see...

I really wish it could be back to its former glory but that is a stretch given it's current position. It's a shame. Even I have stopped playing for multiple months at a time several times. Unfortunately it isn't like everything can last forever so this has to go too, eventually.

It’s disappointing to see the community dead. I missed the days when I was new to animal jam.. back in 2020 there were a whole lot of players and it roleplays! Hardly any advertising too! But ever since the animal has gotten a new company the community is now dead. I been playing aj for 4 years now which is pretty surprising for me and I can see a huge change on almost everything in aj. I don’t really play classic because there are creeps, online dating, and weird stuff on there 0-0 I hope the community grows instead of dying.. Praying that aj never gets deleted because I made so many friends on here! I kinda did wanted to quit because of this one friend I had.. there was no other friend like her. She was special and u loved that we were friends until she disappeared.. I remembered she told me “if I’m gone it’s probably because my parents made me quit” which makes me really upset to lose an amazing friend I had! We were so close.. to this day I still send a jam a gram to her hoping she comes back. Like my other friend did after 4 years of waiting Yippee!

Ya hopefully the community can grow instead of shrinking. I also remember I had this friend and we used to talk about our life and lots of fun things and we would talk almost every single day but then one day they said that their sister died and that was the last time I ever seen them :(

@GamingCow111 omg something similar happened! After when my friend randomly disappeared me and my other friend (squishy and she was friends with her) was trying to figure out why she isn’t on anymore until I found out she had cancer.. and sadly she didn’t make it so her sis plays now

I do want to point out it seems like the stats you've pulled are from steam, meaning only the data from steam is being pulled- and steam is a pc application. the vast majority of players of ajpw play on mobile devices or the link you get directly from the website and now steam- so the 97 people logging in everyday from those stats are ONLY from steam users, and not the total number of players logging in every day

I miss playing it honestly, I had an account like 5 years ago? and after a long break, for no reasons they disabled my acc. I have my password noted n all but I can't log anymore. I sent them a message on any platform I could find but they just won't respond at all. I'm a bit sad bc I used to love decorating my houses and making outfits sm lol

there is definitely over 100 players. there is a HUGE market for ajpw and ajc items as a previous item seller myself (I no longer do but when I did they were my own hard worked items.) and people will pay 100s for items. if theyre willing to do that, the game isnt that dead.

also, AJHQ went bankrupt before. if youve ever made a game or worked for one youll understand it takes TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars, for employees, for the servers, for promotion etc
