In the 1960s, we went out to sea on paddled canoes ( no motors) and paddled like crazy as we rode the waves to shore!Just like in the opening credits of Hawaii 5-0 !

You need two weeks in Hawaii to make the long flight from the east coast worth it. Try a second week over on Kauii. The most natural tropical island. Not like Oahu which is crowded very built up and full of tourist traps. Many movies were filmed on Kauii including Elvis Presley Blue hawaii. Poipoi Beach in Kauii is lovely always sunny. Coco Palms on the other side of the island rainy side. North Kauii has inflatable boats that go down the Napali coast to a deserted beach also used in movies.

Water pretty calm. No big waves. Go up the north Oahu where they surf. There are waves. I went out on a boat and we saw tropical fish way out scuba diving. You can hold on to boogie board and look under water at the fish. It is an experience of a lifetime. To see the fish under the sea. That was in Kauii.

I believe that Dolewhip place is pronounced o-PEE-hee’s. An opihi is a type of snail. The letter i is pronounced as ee and there are no double consonants. And all syllables in a word end in a vowel.

Really thank you for bringing all your fans with you on your vacation l did my last medical rotation in medical school in Hawaii and spent an extra 2 weeks for vacation. At the six minute mark, those aren't tiki but menehune. They are the race of people who helped build items on the island. at 6:44 you have a capture of the sign. The harbor you went past, at one point in time there was a discussion of putting in a passenger terminal so the Disney ships could pull in to let people visit Aulani. at the 26-27 minute mark, those are not tiki torches. They are torches that represent the kukui tree with the candlenuts. They hare highly oily and the use to skewer them and burn them for light. You can find the candlenut oil for sale in the ABC stores for skin moisturizer.

I belive you spoke of having bought time shares? what did those cost and what do they charge you per month, if anything? and What do you get with your time share? i suppose you get 1 week per year? All the lush tropical greeny and flowers are gone. So sad. What i remember from the late nineties the islands were not so built up. 70s 80s 90s the islands were so much more beautiful and natural. Tropical Flowers everywhere pineapple served at every meal. Now they dont even grow pineapple in Hawaii amymore.
