Awesome. I have a winter house in Dunedin and am considering a Macgregor 26 when my wife and I retire in one more year. Great video. Very informative.

Did you buy one @jackgoldman

@@JiggyC No. Found out the water life is unpredictable and usually better on land. Just rent boats now and have a couple of kayaks. Lots of fun.

I'm just starting to shop for a trailer sailor, I think the 26m is probably the boat for my family. Thanks for the video. I have a question. I am not from Florida or any coastal state and do not understand how the ramps and parking works. You said you paid $17 for 72 hours? Is there a limit? Could you have purchased 2 or 3 weeks of parking for your vehicle and trailer? Are there spots like this up and down the coast? If anyone could help that would be great. My intention would be to tow a boat from out of state to southern Florida and then go cruise the Bahamas for a few weeks. Where would I park my vehicle and trailer? Thanks so much.

I live in Town N Country and am interested in how the Mac handles and sails. I'm also interested in if you'd ever sailed in blue water with Mac. I'd love to trailer across the state and try zipping out the Bahamas.

The Mac 26M takes a little time to get used to the handling in tight quarters but you get used to it. It is quick to heel to under sail but we reef early and often to keep all the guests and wife happy. I have sailed for over forty years and I enjoy the sailing. We are never on a hurry to get anywhere and just enjoy the time on the water but I often get the boat over 5kn in moderate breeze with one reef in the main. We have not taken it to the Bahamas but many have. People go to the bahamas on jet skis, it is all a matter of timing the weather and not being in a hurry to get back. It is not built to be a blue water boat and I think things would start breaking under any sustained blue water seas. For coastal, we think it is fantastic. It is hard the beat the interior room and comfort compared to any other 26 ft trailerable sailboat.

@@thesailingrode1817 Thank you. Its like I said I live in upper Tampa bay and have 3 bridges between me and the open sea. We need a boat that has a mast under 42 feet. I'm a sailor. I love the water. We didn't realize when we moved in that the bridges would be so very low. We almost bought a much larger sailboat after moving down here but found the bridges would keep us from docking her at our complex. We've been searching for an alternative or a doc for rent that doesn't cost 350 a month.

Most So Fl secure trailer larking sites charge $25/day. for a couple of weeks it is better to find a monthly storage lot. Just search The Hull Truth site for “trailer parking bahamas”. www.thehulltruth.com/florida-georgia/914088-bahamas-crossing-trailer-parking.html
