Those upper domes are a lost art. I may be one of the only people who knows: It's cast brass plates, over a wooden frame. That wooden frame is angle ground with 2 different sized wheels, to get a broad curve, and a smaller recurve, like a bow. Over this, is the cast brass exoskeleton. It's like a suit of armor, the Kremlin, and the Taj Mahal, are made of similar wooden framework.

Saint Sophia Cathedral is now a State Museum. Most probably, if Ukrainian Church gets Autocephaly, it would become its main temple.
