very sad to confirm the news about Chris Bailey dying on the weekend. Chris and I met when we were about 14 during detention at Oxley High School and became close friends which later developed into what I always thought was an extremely strong artistic partnership, I couldn't have hoped for a better singer. My deepest condolences to his wife Elisabet, his sisters Margaret, Carol and Maureen and the rest of his family and loved ones. I'll post something longer down the track but for now..

Very good partnership. The Saints came out like a horse out of the gates. Makes me proud they're an Aussie band. Thanks to all the members.

God - I love this song. I bought it 12" back in the day, the production was streets ahead of normal punk stuff. It's brilliant.

The Saints were way ahead of their time. I hear grunge, it turned up in Seattle maybe 10-12 years later.

Loved the end where Chris detaches the mime-o-phone holding it like a dead rat as he’s sings “Don’t need nothing ...” What more to say?

Classic! Taking the piss out of the fact they were miming, though outdone by Nirvana in 1991 for their one and only TOTP appearance for "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

I went up to Sydney to take part in the mastering of our Time EP, and the guy asked what comparable sound we were after. I pulled out this album. He said it sounded like mud, so I pissed on his console and said try it now

Chris taking the microphone away from his mouth on the last lines shows his bemused attitude toward miming, shared by a lot of bands. Sad that they subsequently got ignored by the UK press and general public for not looking like what they thought punks were supposed to look (essentially Pistols clones). But the Saints were a lot more than just by the book punks.

Ivor sitting upright like he's in a back brace: very Charlie Watts. Ed just playing the guitar like playing the guitar is everything. :) Seriously, though, WTF was a TOTP experience like for a band when Andy Gibb et al were on the charts?

Don't talk to me about what you done, ain't nothing has changed, it all goes on, and they'll keep laughing till the end. I've seen them drive around in cars, all look the same, get drunk in bars, and don't talk back, we got no social rights. Oh! Perfect day! What more to say? Don't need no one, to tell me what, I don't already know! We got no high times, always flat, if you go out, you don't come back, it's all so funny, I can't laugh. Oh! Perfect day! What more to say? Don't need no one, to tell me what, I don't already know! Don't talk to me, about what's you done, ain't nothing has changed, it all goes on, and they'll keep laughing, till the end. Oh! Perfect day! What more to say? Don't need no one, to tell me what, I don't already know! I need nothing! Don't want no one! I don't need nothing, nothing at all!
