For a LONG TIME I was in a search of my own IDENTITY as per the tribe and the group I belong in a so called “BANGSA MORO” my dad has a bloodline of Tausug PATA but our ancestors remains BANGINGI which confused me why they keep it in a PRIDE STATE. Until I found an article of JAMES FRANCIS WARREN book entitled: THE GLOBAL ECONOMY MARITIME RAIDING & DIASPORIC IDENTITIES IN THE NINETEENTH -CENTURY PHILIPPINES. Salamun 'alaykum! The thing is we must also educate our people (Tau sin Sug/Tausug) regarding history of Sulu & Mindanao. The straightforward history, of course, id est, no prejudice & devoid of superficiliaty and/or superiority. Sabab in history natuh ini biyah hambuuk da tao in magkasabbut, hambuuk tao da in liyalaggo. A history that will acknowledge shortcomings & embrace facts, truths, justice & equity. Dumihil kita summary...Bukun pa ini detailed. Sambat sin mga maas-maas, in Sug consists only of 2 people: A-A SUK & TAU SUG. (Dih ta na hilamod in mga LANNANG supaya maluhay natu bissarahun in parkala. Hi-parking ta naa isab in Basilan & Palawan). Hisiyo bahah in mga A-A SUK ini? In mga A-A SUK ini amuna in mga BANGINGI (or Sama Bangingi). Laung sin mga sila nakahati ha nusulan, they originated about 300 AD-500 AD (or even earlier). Because of their ferocity they earned the name "THE VIKINGS OF THE SOUTH". (Note: VIKING-VAKANGI-BANGINGI). Simangkah in isug sin mga tao ini ha jaman nakauna, sila naini in mga original magpangayaw pa mga kahulah-hulaan ha way pa gimuwah hi Tausug-Buranon. Magpakaabot pa mga hulah Sina (China), Indonesia, Burma, Siam (Thailand), etc, to forcefully get slaves. In mga Bangingi ini they are of Indo-Aryan/Armenoid/Veddoid/Nordic/Scandinavian blood. In term Bajau (Berjau) yan, British na in nagdihil, product sin kabalig nila ha bahasa melayu, about 1700-1800 ha time nila ha ancient Malaya (now Malaysia). In mga Slaves nakawah sin mga Bangingi dain ha Burma amuna in nahinang mga "Luwaan" (Pala-o) pag-iyanon bihaon, way agama because na-retain nila in Animistic/Traditional beliefs nila. Maingat na sila mag-Sinama sabab they adopted the language of their captors (Bangingi). For several hundreds of years, piyagnakuraan sin Bangingi in Sulu Archipelago. They occupied the islands of Tapul, Pangutaran, Tongkil, Tawi2x, & the coastal parts of Jolo. Of course, everything that has a beginning has an end. The Bangingi Empire, so to speak, met its appointed time. Gradually, their hegemony faded. Sambil nakaratung in Sri Vijayan prince from Palembang-Sumatra (some says from ancient Kedah) hi Jamiun Kulisa (Taman Kelisa) iban asawa niya hi Indira Suga together with some family members & slaves around 800 AD. They occupied the mountainous portions of ancient Jolo, hence, the name "Buranon" (Budanon), hatinia Tao-Bud. In 1001 AD, Maharajah Ikling of the ancient Kingdom of Butuan established trade & business relations w/ ancient Jolo. After his death, this commercial undertaking was continued by his son & royal heir Maharajah Sri Bata Shahja. Royals from other parts of Maharlika (now The Philippines) like ancient Bohol-Siquijor, Sugbu (Cebu), Laiti (Leyte), ancient Surigao also made business rapports w/ the kingdom of Sulu. This resulted to inter-marriages. Na kitanio na ini in result mga Tuan mga Rayang. Kanda bang kaw nagdadaawa Tausug, hibutang ha mind mo in ikaw aun dugu Sinama. In Samal yan bahgo na. Panglakah-lakah hi Tausug kan Sama in sakaula-ula in siya mataas in bangsa. Na, bukun marayaw dungugun. Subay iistop in pagtawag sin bihan. Subay "SAMA" or "SINAMA". In Tausug ha bihaon amona in kasampornaan sin katan. Hangkanda mabarakat, maisog, iban marayaw. In Tausug-Buranon in kaawnan niya is Indo-Aryan/Armenoid/Judea-Mesopotamian blood. Per history, in Buranon nag-originate from the areas near ancient Euphrates river (Euphrates-Furatu-Buranon). During the period of diaspora these Euphrates people travelled to faraway places until they reach the ancient Indonesia. Credits to: Azbuz Zanab in tausug forum. Repost by: ADZHAR ABDULLA JAILANI

I am glad that I found your comment. I wish I could understand your dialect(s ), so I may comprehend, but it is good to know some of your points. Yet, I just want to express that while it is absolutely very important to understand our history, it is also paramount to evolve right now or we instinct- the law of Natural selection, so to speak- needless to say: We need each other to survive this imperfect World of ours. In short, when is the time that our leaders down South West will bond together? Having written this, this is the cause of the abject poverty that plagued our People or Peoples. Just my two cents and God be with us all.

To FR. KAREL & DR. ROBERT of ATENEO DE ZAMBOANGA UNIVERSITY, Please be inform of the rich history of the said tribe and be SENSITIVE ENOUGH TO CALL THEM POOREST OF THE POOR. You could have label the group in a much more acceptable term/s but NOT POOREST OF THE POOR.... If we want equal treatment to everyone we should start it from ourselves....
