Hi LE, I realize most of your problems are from the pigs. I wish you great success in fixing your pastures. I definitely agree with getting the pigs fixed as soon as you possibly can. It will certainly help keep the population down. God bless you and love from Canadice NY ❤

I am not asking you to try this, I am just telling you what I had to do and am doing now. A dog I had was doing the same thing with the digging, oh it was a mess. His vet said he was bored and to put pepper where he was digging, wheww luckily pepper did not cost that much, but it worked. My GSD I have now liked to lick the kitchen mat, I put pepper on it, she has stopped. What I am currently doing is putting cayenne pepper around my Conex box to stop the armadillo's from making a home under it, it is proven and it does work.

When you're sowing the seed if you mix a bag of seed to a bag of soil it will stagger the growth and hide most of the seed, then when it takes you can start with the plain seed. It should give the seed layering a bit of a jump start.

LE and Megan- I would suggest you Thatch the area and put in new clean dirt and do pasture rotation so the grass can regrow, Would suggest 7 seed grass or what your Dad suggests.
@kellystephens077Ай бұрын
The biggest problem is they live close to the coast where they have sand instead of soil. Anywhere you have high traffic in sandy soil you'll never get grass to grow permanently. What they need is about 4 dump trucks full of dirt/topsoil hauled in. The downside of that is it would be pretty pricey to have done. Another downside of hauling in dirt/topsoil would be any heavy rain storms or high waters would wash it all away.

There is actually a kind of artificial grass that comes in rolls, that if you put it down it allows the regular grass to grow back underneath it, and you take it up when you’re ready to. I had the link because I was going to give it to my son. I don’t know if I still have it or not. If I do, I’ll send you the link. I had a friend that has a farm use it where her goats were, and it worked great.

Where I live the crows and raccoons rip up our grass. They are looking for Grubs/worms. The battle to rid of the grubs. Are nematodes. They eat the grubs. Not sure it would be the same in your area. I live in British Columbia , Canada 🇨🇦 not sure if it is safe around your farm animals, reading more on it.

You need to put hogs in pond area. Hogs root to eat the roots of grass and any worms or insects that are in the ground. The more grass you plant and it grows hogs are just going to root your grass up to get the roots. That is the reason why it's called hog rooting. The area that they have already been rooted up needs to be flatted back down. Reason why is because you will cause damage to your equipment working in pasture. Other words it can damage your deck on mower or break something hooked up behind tractor with it being rooted up. If you put them in the pond area you will only have one area that they keep k!!!"" the grass instead of them k!!"" the grass in every pasture. It doesn't take hogs long to destroy land... My family has farmed and planted corn for years. we had problems with wild hogs in our corn fields a few years back. The damage to the land and corn in one night was unreal. I hope you read this because if you don't do something now you are going to have all bad pastures for your other animals.. just trying to help you out .

@janraffaele7052Ай бұрын
I just saw an episode on Bondi vet they put a nose ring on a pig to stop him from doing the same thing .
@nancylafehr8736Ай бұрын
I agree that does help with the pigs. People don’t like it though, but it does work and for the dogs what works is putting pepper into the ground whether it’s black pepper, red pepper, and then that way it will burn their nose and they won’t do it again I broke a couple of my dogs doing that However I don’t know what kind of issues that you might have with the goats and others being in the ground and you have to do it after it rains, but do that for a few weeks and then they’ll learn not to do it. Good luck maybe ask your dad also Congratulations on your marriage. ❤
