ALRIGHT!!!!! So the reason you would give a Pokémon an everstone is because it learns new moves faster when it’s on its first or second evolution stage. So a move that you would usually get at like around lv. 50 at the Pokémon’s final form, you could get way sooner at like lv. 30 when it’s in its first evolutionary form. So after you have all the moves you want from leveling up then I would suggest evolving

The everstone is used for people who want an Ash-style pikachu that never evolves without having to cancel the evo every time pikachu levels up. OR sometimes you might want to keep vigoroth from becoming slaking who sleeps every other turn. Those are the two ways I’ve used it.

Some moves can only be learnt by not evolving your pokemon, once they learn the desired move then you can evolve it

WILLIAM!!! Weird synchronicity going on here, you all know I’ve been watching your podcast for a year or so…my coworkers just chipped in and got me a miyoo about a month and a half ago and I have put 70 hours into Pokémon emerald since then. This is crazy to hear a podcast talking about playing Pokémon, I am 34 years old and am going through old games like donkey Kong as well. But I had never played emerald before, I’m having a blast and it’s nostalgic…funny that Casey didn’t figure out the fast forward button and beat crystal without it lol…also I held the fast forward button for 50 hours before I realized you could lock it on fast forward by pressing r1 and the middle button. Just said that in case you guys don’t know. Also WILLIAM, you would possibly be incentivized to NOT evolve a Pokémon because the Pokémon learn different moves if they don’t evolve.
