Strategy and diplomatic study topics is one of the most difficult subject for the universal to grasp the insight as if any countries arise the geopolitical disputes or diplomatic crisis currently occurred in the middle east between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

What a nice and civilized atmosphere is there. All participants are incredibly well informed and educated. I would've loved to participate in a debate like that.

That Mohsen guy (from his accent seems Iranian in origin) very pro-Iran and their policies. Just a couple of notes, as an Iraqi-shiaa myself there is a huge increase of opposition against Iran in Iraq from the youth in particular here. He paints Iran as that great diversify country just because it have churches and Temples but everyone in the region knows that its just a way for the regime to (look good for the outsiders) but all their policies is extremely hostile to its own people and neighbors. Iranians tried soo hard to de-stabilize the region in every way possible. Do you know that sectarian conflict was (non-existent) before 1979 and once the Iranian regime took power in that country all hell was unleashed in that region !! I would bet right now, if the Iranian regime cease to exist anymore in the region (80-90%) of the conflicts would be resolved. And you'd see way different middle-east that the world saw in the past 40 plus years for sure.

in 23:04'', Gause alludes to MBS as the guy ''who is running most of the show'' in Saudi Arabia. Guase forgot to mention the writer of the show; i.e. the US. Discussing Iran, Syria, Saudis, etc in vacuum is counterproductive. It is better to give the true narrative by starting the story like this: Once upon a time, the US wanted to expand its hegemony. As a result,....................................

Israel started the 1967 war. They literally preemptively attacked and started it. The US had to kick the Zionist down a peg or two to give up the Sinai, etc..

After watching enough "this is how you dont play" I am incredibly wary of when people overuse "okay" / "Alright" so this guy, while very nice with words otherwise, just reminds me of DSP.

Guase says. '' What do you need to have militias? and then replies, ''money, guns, etc''. How well you can restate the prescription that your government mercilessly has given humanity since Vietnam war!!

KJ Vids well, the _"Middle East"_ isn't a specific geographical region. It's a political term coined by the colonial Brits in the early 1900s. If anything it should be North Africa, Arabian Peninsula, West Asia and the Caucasus, South West Asia and Central Asia.

why put the definate accusation on Assad for use of chemical weapons when the global community has not been shown either way of who was the real culprit that used the chemical weapon? I think we should be fair to all involved in the atrocities in the country of Syrian war.

Iran supported Shah Masoud in Afghanistan who were fighting Taliban and the majority of his alliance were Sunnis. Iran also supported Bosnian fighters who are Sunni Muslims, in fact, both Iran and Saudi Arabia were aiding them at the same time.

The sectarian question: maybe it's not the only factor, doesn't explain everything, but the Iranians tend to ally themselves with shiites and the Saudis with sunnis. It's a major factor in understanding the geopolitics of the region.

Because Saudi masters asked and were the main conspirator in order to become dominant power without any brain to think of long term vision. Saudi and Kuwait footed the bill for 1991 and 2003 war in Iraq.

Very good seminar. A lot of facts. There is no shia mosque in Saudi answer Shias are extremely suppressed there. Shias have suppressed by small Sunni rulers in Bahrain for long time almost ever since Iran gave independency to Bahrain.

Sam Thanks Zein just to be clear in that , there is no mosque for Shia in fully Sunni cities in Saudi , but in the Eastern Province, there are Shia mosques or Hussainyas and also Shia court for Jafari jurisprudence.

You don,t need a separate Sunni mosque to pray, as a Moslem, because Shia and sunni is a political division, has got nothing to do with the fundamentals of religion.

Enamul Kahn Sunni and Shia are completely different. Shiisme was created by the Iranian converts to keep their own traditions prior to Islam. Their beliefs and systems are also completely different.

The USA sindrome of "exceptionalism" is part of their culture since the time of independence from Britain. The gringo culture has the deep belief they are chosen by their God, as they printed in their dollar bill "In God we Trust", which really situates them as no less fanatical than the Muslim fundamentalist. How can a young inexperience society as the US is, be able to understand other cultures thousands of years old? This is why their behavior in the middle east is so ludicrous. The US hasn't even developed their own distinctive cuisine!!! Apple pie and Italian Pizza 😁

The best strategy ... if can be accomplished ... would be for the Americans and the Russians maybe Saudis to Guarantee Assad to remain in power and his people given protection and security in exchange for breaking away from the Iranians! Part of Syria will be divided for the Sunnis.
