We love Ryan Hall, Y’all and his Xtra channel! (But we love you guys bigger!) So glad you got through it unscathed. We opted to stay in Clyde, TX for the eclipse, so we missed totality. I hated it but we just couldn’t trust the weather in the Dallas area. Just FYI: In Grand Prairie, TX there’s a campground called Loyd Park at Joe Pool Lake. So nice! Close to shopping and dining. Seems like y’all don’t get much time to just hang out and be quiet, but if you find yourselves in that area again, it’s a pretty nice campground. As always, THANKS HANKS for all you do for us! It truly makes our RVing experiences better! Smooches to Dexter! 🐱

SoTina, you have stayed in Lloyd Park and liked it? We rode through but were just not that impressed. However, there was a lot of rode const. in the area, and hard getting in and out. I use a 50 amp to 15 amp pigtail all the time. It plugs into the 50 amp plug on the RV then I run a 15 amp extension cord from there. It is so much easier than wrestling with a 50 amp cord when you only are plugging into a 15 amp outlet. Especially handy when boondocking and running my 2000 watt generator.

At the 5:58 mark, you can see the old battery vent, when you had AGM batteries. You can convert that vent to an outlet that you plug your 50 amp cord into. then the backside of the new plug goes directly to your inverter. Never have to fuss with that whole problem again.

I put the fan in my camper just like you did on your fridge. Trick I did that would work easy for you is I have the fan plugged into a remote. So I can turn the fan off and on from inside the camper. Carl, I would really urge you to install a transfer switch for your inverter. I actually have 2 in our class B. They are fully automatic. As an engineer I did not have to learn the hard way that the inverter can't be used to power the battery charger.😊 My 2 switches work this way: The first is connected to shore tie and generator. If shore tie is connected the switch goes to shore tie, if not, the switch is lined up to generator. The output of first switch goes to second switch. If either 110 source is present, that source is connected, if not, it is connected to the inverter. The battery charger is fed from a branch circuit off the first switch, so it cannot be powered unless generator or shore tie connected. So one thing this does is power my entire 110v panel off the 2000 w inverter, but there are loads that I need to cut off or the inverter would overload. I put red and yellow labels on the breakers and turn those off if running on inverter (air conditioner, Hot water heater). (The water heater also runs on propane). I'd be happy to help you fix up Soli!

Good advice to pull in your awning when high winds come up. Also if it gets bad enough reduce your profile and pull in your slides as well. High winds can blow through the slide seals and bring in the rain where you don’t want it. Good luck on your way to the eclipse.

Hanks, you guys are the best! Two things…1. I40 is the WORST highway I have ever traveled! We went to Houston and back last year…thought we were both going to need new teeth! 2. If the dryer hose comes loose again, you could simply put 2 screws through the band clamp after tightening it, that will fix it so it won’t vibrate loose, but remain removable.

Hey Guys, just a little tip. That screwdriver you're using to fix the vent is also a nut driver. It has a couple sizes built in to it. You can pull the flat bit out and you will see the shaft is like a small socket. If you flip the shaft you will have another size and I thing there is a shaft then a sleeve which gives another size and then the bit. So you can use it on the hose clap and get a better tightening on the clamp then what you will get by using the flat bit. Happy Trails :)

As a lifelong Midwesterner, you did pretty well! Yes, severe thunderstorms are pretty common, along with a few tornados. The nice part about tornados is that they’re small, so the odds of one hitting exactly where you are are small, but of course if they do it’s bad - kinda like standing in a field while someone shoots a bullet across it…somewhere. Asking about or scoping out what the best shelter option is upon arrival is definitely the right move, and filling up the water tank is a smart tip too. Having things all set to take pets with you to the shelter is key too - you don’t want to be scrambling looking for leashes or collars when it’s time to skedaddle. The one improvement I’d suggest is to also get a NOAA weather alert radio, for when you can’t rely on cell service for a warning. (This also comes with the caveat that you need to know where you are - keeping track of *county* names when away from home and in unfamiliar areas is important.)

Last Sept/Oct I did that same drive across NM and Texas after spending a few weeks in Utah. Landed in Fredricksburg TX for a bit. Also weathered a massive Texas thunderstorm/tornado watch that rocked the RV quite a bit side to side on that trip. Not a lot of sleep that night. True Texans were like, yea we had a bit of weather last night. I filled the water tanks competely full for ballast and that helped quite a bit. 110 gallons helps stability when sitting in a campground. I-40 was one of the worst roads I've driven in years, surprised the RV didn't come apart. Hence your loose dryer hose. Be safe out there.

You should look into the 12v compressor refrigerators. I've had the dual fridges up until my last rig, that came with the compressor. What a huge difference. Don't have to worry about my food now.

We've thought about switching, good to know they work great!

@@HappilyEverHanks You'll probably want to add another pair of batteries, though. I found that mine used about 2/3 of the available power each day when I only had 2 batteries. I'm running 4 of those same Lion Energy batteries that you have, with 400 watts of solar and a 200 watt inverter, and have never run out of power since.

Dual power source is 100x better than just 12v only. Especially if you boondock a few days here and there.

Ryan is the bomb…He works with some of the best independent storm chasers also. If Ryan says take cover its like Jim Santore knocking on your door.

Seriously thankful for Ryan! He’s excellent while we are traveling

I'm from Oregon and when traveling in Virginia we had 2 tornado watches and 1 tornado warning... ever since then, I acquired storm anxiety. I'm going to stay on the West Coast from now on.

Hey guys, just an idea for your dryer vent... I noticed you have a shelf over the top, but you might think about putting a couple of tension rods in front of them to keep things from sliding into it while your bumping down the road. Just an idea... keep up the great vibes and awesome videos!

Huh? Did u not notice she has tension rods surrounding the dryer vent hose, to protect it. 🍻

I have much of the same Lion Energy system as you. I am very happy with it. Like you said, you can spend more and get more but, you gain convenience but have about the same performance UNLESS you spend EVEN MORE!

Don’t play with the tornadoes 🌪️. When we go camping. we find all the shower houses are in the state parks where we tent camp at.
