My Head Cannon is that this is a physical manifestation of Ghost's mental state. He has always been depicted as a seemingly "broken man" who only found comfort in the military, but still capable of expressing affection towards his teammates. Considering both OG and Remake versions of the MW timeline, I find reasonable to think "Alone" is nothing but a representation of how he feels on the inside after so much pain. Hell, Soap's arm is the only thing directly fused to his body while all other mementos are superficial, objects with sentimental value - An arm is far more personal, far more direct, far more significant.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out it's more of a The Thing reference because this season utilized a John Carpenter property with Michael Myers. However, I imagine that due to licensing concerns and the fact that Universal owns The Thing while Miramax/Paramount owns Halloween, they couldn't use both concepts this season to the biggest extent they could have (and why they have Alone being more of a zombie in appearance, so they can make the arguments that they were using the concepts from the Zombies universe). Here's why I think it's a The Thing reference: - the split face with one face looking to be in agony (the Split Face/Edvard-Adam Thing) - the flesh fusing into itself (which was seen when Garry was killed and forcibly merged into Blair's arm, as well as the fused arm on the Edvard-Adam Thing in 2011) - the shredded clothes ("I think it rips through your clothes when it takes you over." - Mac in the 1982 film) - the arms hanging almost lifelessly (we see that the Thing only uses its imitation limbs over its recreated appendages when it's injured - the imitation's limbs go lifeless and sometimes twitch while it creates more functional limbs, like with the Dog, Bennings, Norris, Garry, and Blair in the 1982 Thing, and Griggs, Juliette, and Edvard/Adam in 2011)

My theory is that ghost was captured kortac and they tried to clone him and murder him afterwards but it failed and just caused an uncontrollable brutal mutated 3 headed ghost. After task force 141 heard this they tried to take ghost down but failed. The first one to die was gaz as ghost shot him in the heart and ate him afterwards taking his hat then Farah died next by also getting shot but in the head and got eaten by ghost followed is soap tried to 1v1 ghost with a knife but failed and ghost ate him to that caused him to get soaps hand then price, price put up a good fight but ghost brutally murdered him by taking his heart and beheading him The reason why the skin is called "alone" is because that the easters were memories of ghost with taskforce 141 and he might have a little resistance left because he is the only one left.
