Irony. This didn't win first prize. Yet I get the point. Yes, this is the last point on 8-bit. The scene is dead, and only a few realized it. In a way, Razor1911 built their own funeral pile...and in a way, it is what they always wanted. Hats off to you guys. Hats off indeed. You are the last word on an entire genre, and a genre that i hope continues anyway. I have enjoyed all your hacks. Keep up the good work friends!

That depends on the platform and the amount of procedurals that are being used. x86 using DirectX and using a software synthesizer for the music? That's quite the memory footprint you're looking at, although a lot of it can be offloaded to GPU. I have to say that these demos are very commendable for doing something like this, generate amazing artwork with nothing more than a bunch of mathematical instructions.

razor is not just a code wiz, apparently he is a math wiz as well, the only way he could make this in 64k is creating fractals but it doesn't stop there, i am not a math wiz by any extend of imagination but i can tell you that this guy (razor1911) deserves a lot of credit not just for his math skills of course lol, you need scientific notation to tell how many security protocols he cracked and some of you may respect him but disapprove him at the same time for that but we need guys like him, it's guys like him that keep moving us forward when it comes to security, but i can't simply thank razor for that without mention other guys like Barnaby Jack that helped improving safety on medical equipment and ATM's, that guy could make a atm spit all his money while playing songs and displaying JACKPOT on the screen by hacking then on kernel level lol, Jack died shortly after that and was 36 years old, so much to live and so much he could have accomplished, but he will live on as a inspiration to many of us... oh, but this video is about razor lol well, he is a inspiration as well or else i would have never brought Barnaby Jack into this message... cheers everyone

razr is no single wizard, it's an oldskool hacking team still alive since amiga times (circa 1980's). and fitting this kind of stuff is not really rocket science, it's all about compressing EVERYTHING (including code, hence why many antiviruses mark the 64k demos as malware) and procedurally generating any repetitive patterns to appear in your demo. Of course, this stuff although simple in theory may take a lot of time to implement, that's why it's a hobby with a whole competitive community around.

Actually, Razor is dead now, since their last prime bytepusher went belly up years ago. Their own notice: R.i.P DYCUS We would like to take the oppotunity to thank our dear friend dycus for what he has put not only into rzr but also into the whole scene. Everyone in our group knew he had a hard life, being in hospital all the time. But he still managed to do amazing things. He was the one behind many Trainers and without him even our few releases wouldn't have seen the light of day as he was the best game tester you could think of. Always full of new ideas and willing to learn everything in coding. For our historical scene friends we will show some steps in his scene career Dycus joined DBC (Da Breaker Crew) which doesn't exist anymore. He tried to crack, code and learned every possible thing you can think of. Dycus joined Lz0. That was when DBC died because of the risk it was to be a public web cracking group. Dycus joined SoulDrinker and Deviance as a tester. He always told me that this was the break in his scene life as he met a lot nice people there and which to have stayed there. But as we all know these two groups died as well. After a long time of no activity he joined a new group called Ascension. At first it was really great, he learned to train games even better. But soon he realized that the leader was playing a false game. He stole unreleased games from another group and he decided that this was not right and against his morals so he quit. Dycus however couldn't stop and he released a couple of Trainers on his own under the group ReUNiON. But being the only group member is boring and so he came to the one and only Razor 1911 as tester and coder. We enjoyed coding installers, trainers and helped the others fix coding problems. Until one day when he didn't came back to ircd.... We hope you finally found your peace, as you deserve it. You've been struggling and fighting the cancer way too long. Nobody deserves to be struggling with an desease like that. We won't ever forget you in the group. And we would like to give our condoleances to your family and friends, who also have to miss you! Thanks for being yourself and thanks for all the good talks you had with anyone who wanted it. We miss you! And we will never forget you! Your friends in Razor1911 and Razor1911 Demo Devision! -[thoughts about him from his old groups]--------------- Dear Dycus, For a long time you did a great job in our humble family and with your knowledge, your effort and your great sense of humor! You were one of the key factors to how we managed to grow and prosper. Therefore it's a sad day when we now learned that you have passed away. Cancer is never a good thing - it's a long and hard battle. Sadly you didn't make it... You've been a great inspiration to us, to what you can achieve if you just set your eyes on the goal? And with great determination one can always succeed with ones dreams. You did... Even though our ways parted several years ago we still kept in touch, you always had your thoughts on how things evolved, quick wit and always there with some kind remarks. The world will not be the same without you - the empty spot you leave behind cannot easily be filled... We will miss you... Team Linezer0

I am not a pro, but: graphics: models don't take much space, especially when they are created by some kind of generation algorithm. Now think back to Maths in school, where x² generated a more or less complex curve for you. You can think of the modelling here done in a similar fashion - short command create complex models/textures. music: normally some kind of software synthesizer google'ing "coding 64k intros" could lead to some more knowledgable infos
