Coming from working in both start ups, corporations, and startups that got acquired by corporations - not trying to make offense but the people that stay behind to run what's left of an acquisition of a start up or small/mom n pop type company is exactly what you just described. Not only that, there are a an insane amount of new families produced after acquisitions if you run the statistics on childbirth in acquired company's employees lives between the before/after what I like to call the "responsibility" curves and the contrast between "active" and "passive" parenting as your kids age. Some people get too happy and just retire after that; others simply stay long enough to get retention bonuses and the brood out of the toddler years and then dive back into another start up. Contrary to popular belief, the lives of most startup employees is actually pretty great and fully flexible but it's balanced against risk management, which is why, a solid stint bringing your expertise to a venue that really could use it and can at least appear forecastable or sustainable is good for your family and your "career". There's a lot of stuff I *had* to learn that I probably never would have if I wasn't *made* to, and only part of that is of value, really. Instead of taking it personal and being angry or something, I knew it for what it was and when you can get good opportunities with a lot of freedom to flex, teach, and demonstrate, as well as grow your abilities and knowledge - there's something cool about watching a super enthusiast get a gig at a place that thrills their soul - I am glad they let you build the place. The demo shop is amazing too - everyone grab a demo shop guitar before they just aren't there anymore...at least there won't be the pile they're whittling down *right* now. Amazing stuff and I probably already used that somewhere. Anyhow. Sorry for the novel but as a person who's been through it all, professionally (a different field but a technical professional and a leader in my fields none the less), just loves and is secretly thrilled every time someone gets to spend corporate money on stuff that EVERYONE digs. Congrats Gibson for being smart and persuasive. :-)

@@russellzauner This is exactly the mentality of a corporation (post Juszkiewicz) who got back to their core. Make the best guitar possible for the correct price point (you know their guitars DROPPED $500.00 US after JC took over, yes?). Labor rates in the US drive the bus here and I think they've done an amazing job. I've played the new original guitars and my belief is that they're exactly on the right path to reclaim their position as the market maker in the US. I admit to a personal bias: As a kid, I baled hay for Maybelle Carter ("Wildwood Flower") and grew up in an area where "That's a nice guitar, but it ain't a Gibson" was the ethos. I am, and remain a die-hard Gibson player, and as soon as I can convince my CEO of 33 years, I will own a gold top with P90s to round out my "collection". Now that I've closed my architectural business and I'm retired, I get to annoy people here in my neighborhood every day with my 76 custom run through either my Supro or Fender 57 Twin Deluxe. Life doesn't get any better! I watched Mark at Norm's on the KZbin videos. Never went there because I knew what would happen. I'm ecstatic for him and his success in Nashville. I honestly think that bringing in a guitar player to run the company was the smartest thing the board could have done. AND, I'M PLANNING A TRIP TO NASHVILLE TO WALK THROUGH THE GARAGE. Just wanted to write that in caps to prove I'm serious.

I had no idea the Garage had all this behind it, I got the opportunity to visit the garage in September of 2021, and it is absolutely incredible. I’m fortunate enough to only live two hours away, so if I wanted to buy a new Gibson/Epiphone/Kramer/Mesa, It would just be a short road trip to get it from the source. For those of you who don’t live near or around Nashville, but love playing music or just music history in general, I highly recommend stopping by. Its right in the heart of Down Town Nashville, and is a wonderful experience. The staff and everyone I interacted with was incredibly nice, and overall it’s just a great experience.
