I've been a transcriptionist for many Shoah survivors' testimonies over the past decade, and although I've gratefully consulted Yad Vashem resources in the process I wanted to specifically thank you for this very helpful explanation of the concentration process -- not for myself so much as for those first learning about the Shoah. My education as to the Holocaust's myriad aspects began in the mid 1970s, but this is the first time I've seen this important one addressed so clearly and simply. The term "concentration camp" gets jumped to a little too quickly, by history lessons, for the general public to understand what it really means in its simplest and organizational form instead of them thinking it refers to some sort of psychological-pressure torture (which, to be sure, it also did). This sets up the village-to-city-to-extermination-camp sequence -- only known to us by deduction and hindsight -- in a way that makes some sense of the structure of what was happening in what testimonies can only tell us of in the chaos of the moments of disruption. Sorting all that out is hard enough, and this helps get some parts understood as hard programmatic realities directed (albeit inconsistently) from up the chain of command of the perpetrators. So -- thank you for this!

@@danepatterson8107 hello and greetings to you. So true and for years it's perplexed me as to why? I often wonder if a form of insanity besets humankind? What was the likes of Hitler truly thinking, how anyone could visit such horrors on people especially helpless and innocent children is beyond me, making me ashamed of being human. As an antidote as it were I try to read and concentrate on those among us who have done great and wonderful things. It's the way I get through.

...they've mentioned it was occupied, what else do you wish them to say in a video about different subject? Many Jews hates us and many Poles hates the Jews, but this is not an example of that, they usually have no interest in other subjects than their own situation and this institute is concentrated just and only on holocaust.

Correct me if I’m wrong but by 1941 wasn’t all Poland overthrown by the nazi Germany government I also know that not just jews were infected in poland, poles, and roman catholics were as well, but I don’t remember ever learning that poles and roman catholics were put into ghettos. Not saying they were not effected, but this video is about ghettos and the jews being in the ghettos. But I would love to see videos about poland under german nazi occupation in general, I personally don’t think there is enough.

Yes, and then they wonder why we despise them. It's perfectly normal to despise people who hate you for no reason. They shouldn't play any role for us at all, because there are hardly any of them left in Poland. But since they constantly spread from the outside lies and absurd exaggerations, they breed hatred towards them.
