God has touched the throats of these singers. Their visit to our city was one of the great moments of 2017. The vibrations from their voices remained with me for the entirety of their visit, which after all is the purpose of sacred music. For the Logos that became flesh meant that His vibrations permeated human flesh. And no word is uttered without having a discernible frequency. The music of the mass raises our awareness of this fact that due to the Incarnation is part and parcel of our redeemed nature. God bless Mr. Cole and his ensemble. St. Philip Neri pray for us!

Good sounding choristers but no real music coming out of the director's fingertips - at all.

Hi, I made a youtube account just to comment this, although you may never see this. Just so you know, I'm the guy with freckles at 14:29, and that was when I was 9. I'm now 14 and have been a member of the Schola for 7 years and counting. You may be referring to 2 things from this comment, the conducting or his musical ability. Let me start with musical ability. We are currently rehearsing for the Bach B Minor Mass. This mass is a 240 page concert-style mass. First of all, Bach's music is very complex. Second of all, there is an aspect of it called Baroque pitch, which essentially means everything is down a semitone, so he has to transpose everything while playing every part a-tempo which I probably couldn't imagine myself doing in my lifetime. The reason I am mentioning this is because I could count his mistakes since we started rehearsing (about a month ago) on my hands. I have never seen someone so dedicated, every morning on time and ready, never putting up for a mistake or leaving anything unfinished. I hope that debunks that. If you are referring to the conducting, there are clear explanations. First of all, that video only has pictures so there is no live footage of the conducting, if you would see it in real life, you would probably change your mind. Second of all, from my first day, I can remember how perplexed I was at how advanced flapping hands about could be. It was perfect from my first day, and seven years of an hour every weekday morning makes you a pro in the first place. Hope this helps.

@@account-nx7kn That may well be your perception: I dare say this conductor is technically proficient but from what I hear (and see in other footage) there is no inspiration or musical soul in his direction - at least none that come across to the audience.

Sounds cool, are you still in the choir?

@@tm-ti3gg One possible answer is that @account-nx7kn may have been posted by the schola conductor hiding under the guise of a faithful pupil so as to hide his own sense of insecurity. One has no way of telling. Just a surmise.....
