Hands down the BEST tutorial for making a bubble wand and for making the bubbles! My bubbles usually popped literally right after the wand cleared the bin. Your tips are so helpful! 😁 thank you! Time to practice.

What about glycerine? Many people say to use that

Glycerine is not needed for huge bubbles. Go to soapbubble.fandom.com for a full explanation.

Hi, have been creating giant bubbles for a couple of years. Love them! Recently had a major set back - first failure!!! We have had a heat wave in UK, with temperatures up to 30C/86F. Some big (not giant) bubbles formed on the strings, then instantly popped. I use Fairy Platinum liquid, J-Lube, baking powder & water (no dragon spit!). PLEASE ADVISE. Thanks.

If you want to control ph, banking soda should be used. Baking powder is a mixture of an acid and a base and ph effect would be neutral, it only produce CO2 when mixed with water.

I just wasted 3 gallons of store-bought water. I accidentally put in baking soda instead of baking powder.damnit!

Nice video! I use Corn Syrup to make giant bubbles and it work very well. But it's very expensive and very hard to find Corn Syrup in Europe. I never used Guar Gum. You put only one table spoon in 3 galons of water?! Each table spoon is more or less 10 grams of Guar Gum, right?! Thank you for the video!

+Hugo Martins The recipe in the video is exactly what we used :) and it worked great. I have never heard of using corn syrup. From all the blogs and such that we read this is one of the better mixtures.

Very helpfull video!... do you think this bubble juicie will work for small bubbles or make any diferent tricks with bubbles?
@TheSciGuys
@TheSciGuys 8 жыл бұрын
+Pipelone Clown Yup it would also work with smaller bubbles. It has a stronger surface tension so it might help with making trick bubbles.

I tried about 4 times but it didn't work... I am lab assistant, and we want to make it for children who will visit us. I put 14.78 g guar, 1.18L washdish soap, 14.36 baking powder and 11.356 L of water... is this right? because I convert it with internet help.... I didn't know how much dawn you use, so I look for it on pictures, but I am not sure if it's right...

+Mariiiiiiiaaaa well there could be a lot of things going on. We found from internet sources that this recipe works with Dawn platinum specifically. It may not work as well with other types of Dawn. Other factors that could change the success of your bubbles is how hard or soft the water you used is and it's pH. The baking soda is specifically added to change the pH enough so the bubbles last longer. The other factor that we found really effected our bubbles success rate was the temperature outside. On a really hot day our bubbles only went a few feed in size but on a cooler morning the bubbles went the size and larger that you see in the video. I believe the bottle of dawn we used was 709ml. I am not sure about the exact grams for the mixture. We measured by cooking measurements on this one.

+Hai Seo There is some sort of lubricant that is used on animats that some people use but I cannot remember the name of it. The other option to try is Xanthun Gum. It's properties are not as potent but may still work.

You can use Poly-Ox or JLube (which contain polyethylene oxide). You can also use hydroxy ethyl cellulose (HEC). Here's a list of polymers that can help make awesome bubbles: soapbubble.wikia.com/wiki/Polymers#Pure_Polymers
@akoyich
@akoyich 7 жыл бұрын
You're probably thinking of JLube. Also, while some have found that xanthan gum can work as a polymer in bubbles, there are several other polymers that work waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. Ta-da!

+Giselle Tan Did you use our recipe? and make the same bubble wand? If so then try it on a cooler day, like around 12 Celsius. We tried it out on a 30 degree day and the bubbles only got around 5-10 feet. When we tried the next day in the early morning on a cooler day, the bubbles got to the size that you see in the video. Let us know if that doesn't help and we will keep trying to help you get the bubbles working.

@@TheSciGuys I made two bubble wands slightlydifferent, just connecting the dowels with rope that went through eyelets. One material for rope was nylon and the other was cotton. I made a similar solution with water, dawn, cornstarch, baking powder and glycerin. The cotton wand wouldn't create any bubbles and kept getting tangled when I pulled it from the soapy bin. The nylon wand would sometimes create bubbles, but wouldn't form outside of the wand (like, I could see the bubble between the nylon rope, but it wouldn't come out). Would you mind sharing some advice?
