I like the proximity example, nice one. The "this is my text" box - I disagree, in my opinion the best way is to take the distance between lines as a buffer.

So if Microsoft know this, why do I struggle to use most of their UIs due to WHERE the information is? Azure is the worst offender in my experience, too many things spread out in a non intuitive way.

Yeah, the old expression "You can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink" comes to mind. Also, UI/UX is difficult even when you have an idea of what your doing

I would say that the organization of the information is a concern of UX and not UI. Anyways, this guy is not from Microsoft, he's from DevExpress.

its pretty simple everyone, each one is given a task and they end up adding unnecessary buttons making us clueless where to click next
