This is not the worse...... the worse is he is able to record a full song in one take with all embellishments, perfect pocket, not a single mistake , perfect timing, feel, tone and tuning, and drink his coffee at the end, while it's still warm........ I can spend 2 days recording the same rhythm part with 35 punch ins, questionable timing and some occasional hiccups. This is why he has always been the go-to for all US producers when it comes to rhythm tracks (and the rest of us not :-) ). What a legend , Paul Jackson jr, !!!

So many logical ideas in this whole series, and it is a beautiful summary to memorize what is important to focus on, so one doesn’t get lost in fruitless practicing. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

At 3:34 I nearly shat my pants - those quick pull-offs!! At 5:11 you can hear exactly what the guitar's role is: Paul's dropping diamonds into the mix. His icing a cake analogy is spot-on. It's seasoning, it's chrome hood ornaments, it's the pocket square, tie clip and cufflinks. Gorgeous embellishments that hydrate away any dryness in the track, making it shimmer and shine! But respecting the space of course

I bought this video / DVD and it was good then and especially now in a time when everyone always wants to be out front with their playing. nobody wants to groove in a way that compliments other band members. But this video is so good at pointing out how to be a band member not an ego driven guitarist.

Hello ! Thanks for this treasure. On your blog it is said "If you have purchased the DVD and would like to view or download the supplement booklet containing additional chords and exercises, please click here." Is it possible to have (or to buy) the booklet ? Thanks and God bless you

In the second example, why not try to hit a few chords in unison with the piano? On those upbeats.
