Dolly the Sheep was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult somatic cell, using nuclear transfer technology. She was born on July 5, 1996, and was created by a team of scientists led by Ian Wilmut at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dolly lived for six and a half years, and her birth was a major scientific breakthrough that opened up new possibilities for cloning and genetic research.

@Woter_X2 жыл бұрын
That it’s unfortunately impossible. For that to work, they would need to find a way to preserve a brain that would last for more then 1 lifetime because you would need your brain in the other body in order to be in that body yourself. Sorry if I wrote this weird.
@theghostreckon3162 жыл бұрын
@@Woter_X that makes sense, despite your body being new the brain will still be as old as the last body, but there might be a way to counter that in the future.
@TheTrinitymeyers2 жыл бұрын
@@Woter_X the way you explain it, it would entirely work. I’m pretty sure the brain is designed to work no matter what., brain doesn’t die without killing the person. So as long as the brain is alive, it’s possible. Surgically remove the stem, along with the brain, keep them in a moderated container with warm and A cold system to keep the brain cold enough to freeze to keep it alive, and the warm just in case it starts to flatline itself. Or make an artificial lungs to keep it breathing. Place it in the new body and I’m sure it would work fine. Don’t take this as fact. As in I love theories. 🤣

There is research for that but people don't like that because they don't like the idea of killing embryos. Scientists idea is that you use this process and then stop the process before the embryo becomes a fetus and then you take the stem cells from the umbilical cord and use those to make organs. As far as I know, this type of research has been ban in the US though.

This video is kind of confusing. I have just read the original article and what he said is wrong, the body cell's nucleus (in the video is called DNA, but DNA is located in the nucleus) couldn't have fusion with another nucleus. That body cell's nucleus was put in the cell in which was its nucleus removed so that dolly can exist. The explanation was ok, but the graphic description was not.

It seems like they took a sperm from one sheep and an egg from another sheep and just put them together in a third sheep, no? I thought cloning is when you make multiple beings from like synthetically created eggs and sperms (so that they're all identical)... Just kind of confused about the whole process and how they got these "sisters" to be identical

@movie madness I don't know how you understood this whole concept of cloning, but the truth is Dr.Ian Wilmut , took the genome (diploid) from one sheep and took an egg cell from another sheep and he enucleated it and inserted the genome (diploid ) into the enucleated egg cell by a process called nuclear transplantation. And he inserted this modified egg cell into the uterus of a surrogate mother. It is not your usual fertilization technique.
