The Scrapped Tracks of the Booster Course Pass! | Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

With wave 6 released, the Booster Course Pass is finished! As per usual with any game however, there is some unused content. Today I wanted to specifically discuss about the canceled/scrapped tracks for the DLC pack, and explain their most likely reason onto their cancelation!

I actually think that the original wave 6 gcn Track wasn’t mushroom bridge, but mushroom city. But not only was city scrapped from the BCP, but also from tour. The reason we don’t see any unused data from it in Tour is because they used the assets from it to make Bridge and Moonview.

Is there any proof that those assets were meant to be used for another course, or even anything else pointing towards Mushroom City being planned? I know the only ID gap that's ever disappeared from the New York Tour to the fourth Anniversary Tour is one that could only have belonged to an N64 course. Mushroom Bridge being planned for wave 6 and getting scrapped isn't much weirder than DS Mario Circuit always being intended to end off the DS courses.

​@harrybest2041 Theoretically Mushroom City would've been made in Tour specifically so it could be in BCP whereas Mushroom Bridge had already been finished by the start of 2022 and there isn't really anything Mushroom City has that Bridge doesn't. So not only is there the possibility it didn't get very far in development but even if it did there shouldn't really be anything one could datamine for it.

​@@harrybest2041Also DS Mario Circuit ending the DS tracks is not even remotely as strange as Mushroom Bridge being in Wave 6 lol. DS Mario Circuit is the third track of DS's Star Cup while Mushroom Bridge is the first track of GCN's Flower Cup, saying they're similar is a massive stretch in itself but DS Mario Circuit was also only in Wave 4 while you're saying GCN Mushroom Bridge was gonna be in Wave 6 and in the final cup at that. Hell Mushroom Bridge being in BCP at all is a huge stretch because Shroom Ridge is extremely similar while also having a more complex layout and that was in *Wave 1*.

DS Mario Circuit is Star Cup track, so placing it in Wave 4 in the middle of BCP is reasonable. Mushroom Bridge would indeed be too out of place to appear in Wave 6.

It is likely that it was Mushroom City, not Mushroom Bridge, since it was Cnsw_66 in Wave 6 that was destroyed. It is likely that Mushroom Bridge and Moonview Highway were created in Tour using the same materials as Mushroom City.

About three tracks that did not exist in the original plan ・Wii Moonview Highway It would be a reasonable alternative track for Mushroom Bridge or City. If Mushroom City was scrapped, it would be very regrettable, but I understand that it was difficult to reproduce in 8DX due to its structure. ・Wii Daisy Circuit There are simply too many Wii tracks. And this track looks a lot like a lot of Tour city tracks. ・3DS Rosalina's Ice World Too many cold weather tracks too. Placing cold tracks on all but Wave 1 seems somewhat excessive. I think I would have liked to see DC and RIW recreated more beautifully in the next Mario Kart. Piranha Plant Pipeline is not a well-received track either, but it was still better than having DC appear at BCP!

So the only course we know for facts that was never added was Shy Guy Bazaar which was back in the original MK8 DLC but that’s besides the point. I do think that yeah Mushroom Bridge was originally in the BCP because it had a glow up akin to the other GCN tracks added to Tour that were also added into the BCP and the fact they put in Moonview Highway instead I think greatly speaks volumes that that track did fill in Mushroom Bridge’s niche which then resulted in it getting replaced with Daisy Circuit. Idk why they chose that though instead when Dry Dry Ruins was right there. Also I feel like Rosalina’s Ice World may have been planned a bit earlier than we thought since it looks nicer than Daisy Circuit so maybe Piranha Plant Pipeline was originally planned too but they scrapped it early on in 8 Deluxe even before Mushroom Bridge was replaced. Other than that, yeah we won’t know why they scrapped the unknown nitro or what it was, and if they originally planned to include variants since we did see SNES Mario Circuit 1 and an RMX variant as well as I think a Choco Mountain variant too. It is evident though that we may have seen a bit of that already since Kalimari Desert merged it’s first N64 and second Tour variants together even with the same red girder track used in original Tour variants. And yeah for anyone wondering, no Airship Fortress, Dry Dry Ruins, and Dino Dino Jungle were seemingly never planned for the BCP. None of them had banner images, music, nothing leaked for them which made it obvious why we were instead getting DS Mario Circuit since it was still in development and DK Mountain also for the same reasons.

12:57 Actually, Hammer Bro and Nabbit were scrapped and replaced by Wiggler and Kamek. Bro and Nabbit’s animations didn’t work with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, like they did in Tour, so they scrapped them and replaced them with Wiggler and Kamek. Still don't think Mushroom Bridge was ever planned. Daisy Cruiser was meant for wave 4 and judging by the file name DK Mountain was for wave 5, no way in hell would Mushroom Bridge be in wave 6. It was either Dino Dino Jungle or a scrapped GCN track for Tour.

I do think it’s a good thing that Athens and Vancouver were moved. I mean Rome had only *just* released in Tour, so making it available like a week later would defeat the purpose of playing it in Tour. As for Madrid, yeah, they made the right call moving it to Wave 6. Because you could argue that Sky-High, Yoshi’s and Squeaky Clean are 8DX nitros (they’re not), it wouldn’t make sense for a city course to debut in 8DX, which would also show that Nintendo lied about the other three being new. And considering Madrid uses Tour’s main gimmick, it would be a dumb idea

​​@@PeachyFanboyfour of the Wii tracks are Mario Kart 7 retros and since majority of them are Mario Kart 7 retros (and some nitros), I can see that being the case since Tour was technically Mario Kart 7 Mobile (only the first few weeks after launch). I don’t think there was ever a nitro planned for Tour but rather a retro that was planned for Tour cause if you’ve noticed it seems as though Nintendo had planned for Wii’s Star Cup to be in the game as we’ve gotten the tracks backwards however Wii’s Lightning Cup has been getting in in its original order with only one track being left out, N64 Bowser’s Castle and I do think this was the planned Wave 6 Bowser’s Castle to appear in the game after it got into Tour but then the Tour devs remade GBA BC4 instead which prompted Moonview Highway to get in instead

If there had been a plan to produce an N64 BC, the prefix of Cnsw_67 would have been marked "N64". There are many tracks that have not been remade yet, so reintroducing MC and BC once they have returned would not be a priority. Cnsw_67 could have been Tour's original Bowser track.

It is not known when Pipeline was abandoned at 8DX, so it could be either 63 or 67. Incidentally, the internal file name for Piranha Plant Cove is "Ocean Ruins" so I don't believe it was initially built as a piranha plant track. The last Tour track completed was the PPC, and once that official name was decided upon, it may have been decided that the PPP would not appear in 8DX.

My best guess is that one of Nintendo's reps saw the prefix leak and was scared to death that the entire dlc plan was soon to be spoiled after much thought went into the bcp. It was then that they started shifting around tracks and then cutting 3 tracks from the dlc. As I have seen, it was likely that a GCN track was rumored to be either Mushroom Bridge or Mushroom City. But since Wii Moonview Highway draws contrasting elements from the two, they went ahead to scrap the GCN city track. For the rest of the tracks selected, SNES Mario Circuit 4 was in consideration but my headcanon says that majority of Wii biases threatened Nintendo to throw in SNES MC 3 because Wii is love, Wii is life. I also believe more N64 tracks were in question like N64 Koopa Troopa Beach, Frappe Snowland, or even N64 Wario Stadium but were instead only given 2 cause we all thought there are "too many N64 tracks already". If anyone here isn't fond of my conspiracy theories behind the BCP, sue me for all I care.

I actually think the Scrapped GCN Course was GCN Dino Dino Jungle since it’s the second course of the Spiny Cup and Dino Dino Jungle has always been the second course of a cup, also they probably scrapped it because it’s too similar to DK GCN Mountain and that course was pushed to Wave 6

After seeing Daisy Circuit's filename was 6-6, I personally believe the GCN track cut was Dino Dino Jungle, due to being the most complex of the GCN tracks in tour, and it would make sense for it to be cut, as it has too many similarities to the fan favourite DK Mountain, alongside it's prefix being placed next to it. Why Daisy Circuit replaced it, I will have no idea.

I'm not even sure if Daisy Circuit is a replacement for the GCN track because it's not clear when each of the three planned tracks, including the pipeline, were specifically scrapped. I believe Moonview Highway became Cnsw_63 because it joined the BCP before Daisy Circuit and Ice World.

If I get to choose the tracks for the BCP, here are the tracks that I would replace. I think the most likely GCN track（Cnsw_66） is Mushroom City. Mushroom Bridge is too easy to place in Wave 6, but the other GCN tracks don't even have objects datamined. Perhaps Mushroom City was planned at the time of the prefix leak but was cancelled in both Tour and 8DX due to design difficulties and other reasons. Mushroom Bridge and Moonview Highway were created using the same objects as Mushroom City, and MH was adopted by BCP to fit the difficulty level of Wave 5. I believe the Piranha Plant Pipeline was to be placed in one of Cnsw_63 and 67, but the other was never a placeholder either. Nintendo decides the placement of each track based on a variety of factors, including length and difficulty, so I don't think it's possible that only the third track of either Acorn Cup or Spiny Cup was completely undecided. It is possible that the mobmu（museum） was the last nitro track scheduled and that Madrid 3 was created by reusing some of the discarded mobmu material.

What a trip, the BCP has finally concluded and after many predictions we did in these two years, we ended up having tracks that we either predicted correctly or not. So in the end we have: 4 SNES tracks 6 N64 tracks 8 GBA tracks 7 GCN tracks 7 DS tracks 11 Wii tracks 8 3DS tracks 16 8 Nitro tracks 14 Tour city tracks 15 Unclassified brand new tracks

I also don't think SNES BC3 was planned because it wouldn't make sense in wave 5. I think a different SNES track was planned (most likely Vanilla lake to give wave 5 a snow track since vancouver was planned for wave 6) and a nitro bowsers castle was planned for wave 6

Since BC3 was Cnsw_57 where SNS track was located in the prefix leak, I believe this track was planned from the very beginning. However, I believe that the plans changed and BC3 was placed just before Wii Rainbow Road, which also allowed Nintendo to enhance the graphics of this track.

I don't really think that Mushroom Bridge was actually planned for this game. I think cnsw_66 was originally gonna be Dino Dino Jungle but got scrapped either because it was too similar to DK Mountain or because the track didn't play well in 8 Deluxe.

Mushroom Bridge was one of the later courses made for Mario Kart Tour, being first rendered in early 2022. Almost all of these courses eventually appeared as part of the Booster Course Pass DLC. Despite the fact it would have been in a weird spot, at least in the original order, I believe it is more likely to have been planned than Dino Dino Jungle.

There was also one more scrapped track you forgot to mention, and that SNES Vanilla Lake 1 OR 2. That track was in the banner leak, but we got Bowser’s Castle 3 instead. My theory on that one is that they originally planned it, but decided not to add it because of GBA Snow Land. I also thought, they decided to disregard Vanilla Lake after the Mario Circuit 3 incident, and decided to fully remake a different SNES track from the ground up, along with solving our other problem and that’s the lack of Bowser’s Castles.

SGB was meant for the Wii U version’s DLC/Switch (Deluxe) base game. But I think either “3DS Neo Bowser City “GCN Yoshi Circuit,” or “Wii Wario’s Gold Mine.” The reason? Well, the Shy Guy representation on Yoshi Circuit and Wario’s Gold Mine is undeniable due to hearing them in the background, and I guess Nintendo looked at their base game track “Shy Guy Falls” as a reason to look at that track as a reason to not include SGB.

2/3 theories are incorrect. Theory #2 - There's two problems with this theory. A.) Why wouldn't they just put Pinanha Plant Pipeline in Wave 5 and put SCS in Wave 6. B.) If they can rename one of the Mario Party minigames, then they can also do the same thing with Piranha Plant Pipeline. Theory #3 - If they want to have a winter theme track in Wave 6, then why we got (Wii) Daisy Circuit? I believe the first theory that you mentioned. Also, are you planning to make a video about how you would do it if you made the Booster Course Pass?

I don't think you can conclude that the purpose of BCP was not to preserve Tour tracks just because the pipeline didn't make an appearance. Especially since City Tracks are modeled after real cities, so it doesn't change the fact that they all have to be preserved. In any case, if all 48 tracks were just the old ones, it would have just been boring to me.
