The Scrovegni Chapel, located in the Italian city of Padua, just 30 kilometers from Venice, was an avant-garde church for its time.
At the beginning of the 14th century, Enrico Scrovegni, a member of a powerful family of bankers and usurers, built his palace. And next to him, a chapel to atone for the sins of his father Reginaldo, whom Dante Alighieri, almost simultaneously with the construction of the temple, had cited as deserving of Hell in his Divina Commedia.
The use of perspective, the enormous realism visible in expressions such as sadness, put Giotto at the forefront of his time, being considered a promoter of the Renaissance in Italy.
Great works like the Scrovegni Chapel will be the point of a movement that will completely change the vision of art.
