You should make the edges of the raft corrugated metal and walls all around the plank section to go with the oil rig feeling, because even if it does get fixed you will still have a cool raft.

Maybe Build random fires above the water throughout the map. Not only could it be used as guidance but it would also be beautiful to see. Also build a ladder from the raft to down to the ocean and maybe a 2 story catamaran would be possible with how you can seperate the bouys from the main raft.

before it gets patched you should make fuel stations in the middle of the oceans so you never run out of fuel

You REALLY need a permanent little raft anchored below the sea base. If you visit in a gyrocopter and for whatever reason fall in or need to get in the water you are never getting back up without a platform raft. edit: well, looks like you thought of that before it was too late :)

Wow, you're breaking ALL the rules. A floating base, hovering campfire, USING A FISHING SPEAR. If the update breaks the base, you would hopefully still have the raft since it's anchored and just lose the shelves & camp items there. If the update doesn't break the base, you might want to expand it just a bit for easier landing. It's a great place to store some essentials like fuel & meds for the times you set out & realize you forgot something. But while you're doing insane projects, have you considered bridging two islands? A nice brick base going as far out as possible, a VERY long raft with awnings on the deep water, and then another brick mooring on the neighbor island.
