I'm Russian, live in Moscow. And I know Chekhov very well, saw lots of different interpretations of "The Seagull" on stage and on screen with brilliant outstanding actors, and I'm so endlessly grateful to Emilia for creating such an exquisite, gorgeous and absolutely unmatched Nina... there are just no words to describe the universe of emotions and fascination which Emilia's playing awakens in the viewers' souls. Huge thanks for another stunning and mesmerizing masterpiece! ❤

Everyone wants to go to Moscow in Chekhov's plays, and they never get there. Except The Cherry Orchard, where they want to stay where they are...and they can't :)

I was there on opening night. They all were amazing actors. Seeing Emilia for a birthday present I will never forget.

Anton Chekhov's literature is so fascinating. His way of representation different individuals so vividly always makes me feel, think and just see more deep.

Indira Varma is SO. GOOD. Look at her reactions before and after he asks if the lake is full of fish. Absolute natural. I wish Emilia had that kind of skill, because she is so stiff

How long did the play last? Someone said about five hours but that sounds ridiculous. Would really appreciate you letting me know. Please and thanks. 💜

This seems like a really strong adaptation, but so much of Chekhov is in the setting - a country estate, isolated, but surrounded by natural beauty, and the characters are so wrapped up in themselves that they can't appreciate it, or they are too attached to it. I mean it's in the title of The Seagull and The Cherry Orchard.

Hi Richard, some time has passed since you asked but I can tell you if you live in the UK you can get a month of National Theatre At Home online for about ten quid a month and watch it on your phone or whatever.

Post modern drivel! The director needs a good clip around the ears for denigrating a masterpiece.

I'm sorry, but this is garbage. I'm hard pressed to know exactly what the concept is: a Valley Girl with a Beverly Hills matron and a mindless beach boy. Not one honest moment. We have sunk too low!
