Matthew, you are so correct. A year later Buddy Holly wrote and performed "That'll be the Day." I used to go around the house singing, "That Will Be the Day" when I make the honor roll. LOL!!

Memories of Cinema, thank you for sharing. I have the forever popular movie track of "The Searchers." John Wayne was excellent; Natalie Wood was wonderful in the movie. A year later in 1957, Buddy Holly wrote and sang "That Will Be the Day." I think this is very ironic.

This generation has no idea of this country's history... Good and bad. It's what makes us. This is a classic - like Sands of Iwo Jima, Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo, Go for Broke. It's a depiction of history a la Hollywood.

In the begining of the movie Ethan does not like Martin because he is part indian. Now he pays him the respect of making him his sole heir, bequeathing him all of his property as though Martin is his son. In the end Martin's Indian blood is of no importance. Like Americans the men are bonded together by shared values and ideas.

And did anyone notice that Scar is played by a blue- eyed German immigrant? Which implies that Scar is either half White (like the historical Quannah Parker) or a former captive himself, like Debbie Evans or the historical Cynthia Anne Parker. Matin Pawley, part Cherokee, is Ethan's last kin, not in captivity. Ford's subtle commentary. (And Ford was Liberal/Leftest himself.)
@kyokogodai-ir6hy5 жыл бұрын
John Ford was a classical liberal. The Democrat Party which he belonged to is so far removed from what the Democrat Party is today, might as well call him a conservative, which he was.

First continuity error I have seen in this picture, having never noticed it prior. When Marty picks up the knife from the fire it is in his right hand. When the camera cuts to just Marty, it is in his left hand. Then back to his right when he throws it. Interesting.

The movie is called "the searchers" and not "the rangers" or "the search". So, some are searching, but they may not all be seeking the same. At least he can read, wherefore the Bible, kjv, is not that far from him, as it may be for others, such as Debbie. .. when he shoots "the dead injun's" eyes out, he leaves behind a symbol of darkness, for without light, how will he find "the happy ground"? Truth is a light, by HEARING one sees.

Voltaire said, I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. ... but a problem arises, aside from Voltaire's Bastards who have nothing of substance to say ... your enemy may not afford you the same courtesy. "Yyackety yak, don't tawk balk".... I think that that was a song, and not merely unofficial government policy.

That's a very funny line .. because after you are born again.. you become, hard to kill. .. which is the title of a Steven Segal movie... A passage : Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? - John 11 : 25 - 26, kjv. Another passage : And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead. Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. Acts 14 : 19 - 20, kjv.
