Interesting to see how often cigarettes appear in so many scenes in these early movies. We now know that the tobacco-cigarette industry was paying money to film producers to ensure cigarettes appeared as often as possible in films. It would make an interesting research project to dig into this aspect of cigarette marketing when it began and just how many producers were seduced into a marketing strategy that has led to so many people developing tobacco related incurable diseases. The deaths, pain and suffering of millions of people meant nothing against the profits to be made and are still being made by this pernicious if not downright evil industry.
