i have mad respect for them. not just in trying to create a realism for the effects but also in using practical handmade effects and blend it with digital computer effects. there's a freshness to the way they look and they actually do what they can to make it feel real to the point where we know that it doesn't look fake and if we watch them 10-20 years from now. we'll still be impressed. the people at marvel aren't just the new standard bearer of visual effects but also allowing people to revive the old ways of practical effects just to add that sense of realism.

Its a failsafe, but they know they NEED him to be able to fight at times, like with Thanos. If it was going to be easy (and Thanos wasn't stupid) then why even give it to him in the first place? Its not like some random person (like Karli or Walker) would ever be able to just figure it out, and it wouldn't be possible to just to do it by accident.

@@userbunny14 Exactly. I think of it this way: The top security division of the organization that creates advanced weapons, has the required 'key's' and control sequences to disable them. Not to mention the skill to do it mid fight. Something no human or alien foe has been able to do to this point no matter the battle. In that light, _her_ being able to disconnect the arm is not particularly surprising, even though a cool as hell sequence.

When his arm fell off, the hurt in his eyes was bordering on the feeling of betrayal somewhat. It was like he couldn’t believe that anyone he had spent time with and grew with, while in wakanda, would have a fail safe for his arm “just in case”. I felt bad for him lol

This was fun to watch and understand how this scene worked. The scene itself really caught me off guard. Focusing more on what the maybe underlying message is in the moment, I think it shows how the Wakandans still see Bucky as a potential threat. Even though they helped him, they still felt that they couldn’t trust him enough. When Ayo removes his arm so proficiently, you can tell it’s a move that she among the other Wakandans may have anticipated. The look on Bucky’s face is shock, and maybe even sadness as he realizes they can’t and maybe even won’t trust him, as they clearly still feel the need to have a way to control him. If you think about it that way, I think it’s kind of a compliment, like he’s still considered lethal enough, but mostly sad because Bucky has been trying to leave the Winter Soldier behind him, and no matter what he does people like the Wakandans are taking advantage of him and not willing to trust that he really isn’t the WS any more. He’s just Bucky. Additionally, again, that need to control him honestly pisses me off. He might as well be the WS again. He was controlled as the WS and now even as he has returned to being Bucky, he’s still being controlled.

THANK YOU. The entire scene is hella problematic for a number of reasons and they didn’t address it at all in the show and lots of people are just like 🤷‍♀️ about all the ableism and problems with it. It should not have just been ignored. (I suppose it’s possible it’ll come back later but honestly I think the Marvel people mostly did it for laughs and don’t even realize the issues with the scene, so don’t realize there is stuff to be addressed.)

The combination of visual and special effects really is amazing! I always wondered how he could move around so much in the arm because I had only heard about the sleeve, but it all makes sense now. I also love how they got Sebastian to look like he was putting the arm back on. Getting that balance to make the movement and textures look authentic really is an art.

I love that they go for subtle details rather than slap-in-the-face things, particularly when the arm falls off. I very much prefer the vague "five finger death punch" kinda thing Ayo does and the vague electric pulse to some purple flash or something more obvious. The attention to detail is always amazing but it's that willingness to be subtle that I admire as well.
