Weightlifting needs more Boffa! Fantastic video, great interview with a coach who really breaks it down.

Absolutely Fantastic Video, especially on the load and volume coming up on a competition. The original western premise was to deload to recover prior to a competition but many results very day usually to the negative side which did not seem to match the theory of optimal performance. After speaking to both Chinese and several European coaches at the 2003 world championships in Vancouver all of them basically had the same consensus that they kept the load at near the 100% range and only declined the volume in the last couple of days With a point being keeping the neuromuscular tension at full capacity for the nervous systems are ready to carry the load at full capacity. Thank You for all the work and videos you do. They are fantastic teaching tools!!🙏🙏🏋️♂️😊

It's neurological, not related to strength or power. Keeping your nerve pathways familiar with heavy loads is key.

I'm Italian and I compete in WL since 2010, so I've seen the landscape changing around... I think one of the biggest thing that helped to propel WL in Italy is due to Crossfit popularity and how it was blended into the pre-existing WL landscape: many CF coaches and athletes connected directly with real WL coaches, competed (and still compete) in legit WL competition and that gave/is still giving fuel for the whole Italian WL in terms of promotion (just as an example, in 2012 if I said "i compete in WL" people would look at me like "wtf?", now they "ah, cool, is it tough right?"). And having WL to be known by the masses helps a lot in terms of 1) funding 2) no. of athlets
