Race is a social construct. These children are young and innocent so although they might notice the difference in his skin color and feautures, they don't know much to be aware of him or to be prejudiced towards him. But as people grow and start hearing things, seeing things on media, that's when stereotypes and prejudice start correlating with certain feautures that might lead to negative behavior. You best believe this is not unique to Koreans. I live in the US, I see people of all races discriminating and harboring prejuidces and racism toward each other.
