Tipp for any saturation Plugin, put it in Mid/Side Mode. Its way cleaner and you get More seperation between the elements of your song. And the Saturn has that feature + use oversampling to get less antialising. And one more, use between-18 to -12 db peak as input volume to get less antialising. Love the blackbox hg2

@@Par1s Hi, i think you mean phase cancelation when its summed in mono Right? With Saturation its not that of a Problem if you do sublte enhancement, when you do more Crazy mid/side distortion Stuff, then you have to check of its still sound good in mono
@Par1s2 жыл бұрын
@@colacorn6519 No I literally mean artifacts that occur as a result of encoding a stereo signal as Sum/Difference. Mid/Side is a mic technique that some hardware manufacturers decided to use and artifacts can come out on arbitrary stereo signals.

Good point using lower input volume to help prevent aliasing, hadn't thought of that. And then u can just increase output volume. Saturn has such a great UI

BRO Saturn has an audio dB dip at the transition frequency when you add different bands. I still prefer Saturn as my main go to saturation, but it does have that dip, so just make sure you either compensate for it, or place it in an area that's not as prominent in the mix for the least effect on audio signal. I've been watching your videos for years and listening to your music for longer. I always appreciate your view on music, your one of my most respected engineers. Keep this up your content on KZbin has definitely gotten better in my opinion

Bro I have a question; why do I always hate my mix when ever it's my own song or my voice. I spend more time on when mixing and still not satisfied with the results. I'm sure a lot of it is that age old adage: "We are our own worst critics." And it's not uncommon. John Lennon didn't like his voice and wanted desperately to sound like Elvis. For me, getting a second, third, fourth opinion helps me get out of my head a bit with my own songs and offers a more objective perspective. Sometimes walking way from the project and coming back to it later allows your ears to reset because they can fatigue easily. Don't give up.

Amazing tutorial as usual. Just a question. What would be the equivalent of the Trim plugin in Fl Studio ?
Should I always level match the saturation on a mix bus. Basically should I add my saturation on my mix bus but make sure the volume is the same as when there wasn’t any saturation or should I not do that on my mix bus ? Also what about when I use it specifically on individual vocal tracks, should I level match it then as well or no.
@lilwombat2 жыл бұрын
No as long as you still have headroom for your mastering you're good
@LucaHats2 жыл бұрын
Always level match for every mix decision you do. Volume can be deceiving & and mix decisions you make without properly understanding if it’s the actual action (EQ, saturation…) or the increase in volume due to that action, may lead you down the wrong path.

When you added 2db on the frequency via Saturn I noticed you didn't gain stage before the black box plugin. Is there a reason for this? Or was the dB change not significant enough to adjust?
@HelpMeDevvon2 жыл бұрын
Typically for me on my mix buss I don’t try to level match. What I do is lower the mix for mastering at the end of the chain. But for the purpose of the tut I was gain staging a lot in between so you could hear the effect not just volume. You get what I mean?
