Very very good tips. Suddenly, I don't feel as much pressure on my swing while getting better shoulder turn. Thank you.

Totally agree with everything in this video. An immediate and important takeaway (pun yes) is that a wide as possible arc is only within the connection of the core and weight load aka not created with the arms. Lag isnt a hand pull but a hip pull of the arms/hands. One question I struggle with immensely and can't figure out to any use is how to fire the hips from initiation. Is it a downward and turn? A lateral turn? How do the arms follow? I simply can't get the feel and always fall victim to the hips slowing down and the arms catching up and flipping at the ball with the hips pretty much square at impact. Impact almost looks like address unfortunately. I shoot decent in low 80s but with no power, high ball flight that gets worse with loft and of course inconsistencies. There have been times rarely when i have power and it coincides with accuracy but its usually when im shorter, more relaxed, and sequenced better.......but still with square hips and a flip 😢

I would love a video that lasers in on exactly how the hips initiate the downswing and the rest stays connected through impact. I think it would need to assume you get to the proper point and would elaborate on load queues to assume you're there and then detail how to reverse it? Idk lol........I've tried everything I feel and get so frustrated when I see the video of what looks like a great backswing only to end at TERRIBLE impact.

We can definitely make a video for that!! If you're a right handed golfer, the hips need to recenter and then think of the left butt cheek moving back! The hands then kind of fall into the back pocket (not literally but the feeling) this way, the body is forced to swing the club!

@BermanGolf : thanks for confirming bc I've found it hard to believe almost. It certainly seems the quiet hand drop and commitment to using rotation almost exclusively is my nemesis and my urge to hit at the ball slows the left pocket pull and replaces good technique with a tense arms chop and handsy flip that kills my speed and adds major loft.

Just get a good set up and start your swing with the trunk. You will be amazed how much easier golf is when you take positions and technical thoughts out of it. Swing free and enjoy it.

That spine angle for the set up has been proven to cause more back injuries than anything else.

You are correct. They are teaching more of a slight rounded shoulders now, opposed to the straight back.

I have never heard of this! Where and who has it been proved by? Is it for specifically younger golfers or those that are 65+?

I tried this at the driving range Sunday. Follow the belt buckle!!!

So I watched this video and went and practiced it and got the freakin dream backswing I’ve been looking for. Got it on camera too. But ever since then, I can’t for the life of me replicate it and it’s REALLY frustrating me lol.

Interesting that the short from this same channel that brought me to this channel says drop hands down at beginning of downswing while this video says never drop hands down around 5 minute mark. Please clarify. kzbin.infomG3gBQ2K3Vg?si=fudLhPwlzVCGjW2q

What I mean is, the optimal position for the hands in the backswing is when you max the shoulder turn while keeping spine angle intact. When you go any past that and lose spine angle, the body will naturally bring them back to the optimal position. The dropping of the hands still happens in order to swing more in to out, this is a different type of dropping the hands and more of an exaggeration on top of extra dropping of the hands due to not being in an optimal position. Does that help at all?
