The entrepreneur in this video is an admirable person due to the risk she took in leaving her "comfortable" government job to start snd grow a family-owned business. Most people with a government job would never do that. She made that decision as a person with children to provide for, but went for it with her husband anyway. I respect her. Comfort is the enemy of progress. If she hadn't had the courage to leave that safe government job, she would not have a business to pass on to her children. Last point: she has no MBA, but she is outperforming many of those who do. Keep up the good work, ma'am, you and your husband

It takes incredible guts girl to do what you did, God bless you. Thank you for sharing your story, I had a similar situation when I started my businesses 30 years ago, those memories are so valuable, the confidence, then fear that sets in and the struggle to achieve, After a few years of success it was so worth it and you wonder why I didn't start it a few years earlier. May you be a billion dollar company baby!

Ppl may have known about it through getting their vehicles up fitted but it’s not the same thing. she’s actually doing it paving the way opening the doors and continuing to fight the fight! It’s wack they kept closing the doors on her till the executive order came out which forced them. She doesn’t want to say it but she knows why n if she doesn’t its because u are black sis. Nonetheless This is super dope to see women as usual step up do something different since everyone is following everyone but they will not last 100 years like These ppl been in business 50- 100 years thats different I’m in trucking but this isn’t for me. I wish her all the best and success!!!

Had the same issues starting and acquiring wholesalers just like the brothers with the tires you interviewed a few months back. They hate to see us do good....40-45min
@bigmanhauling2396
@bigmanhauling2396 2 жыл бұрын
I look at this from a different perspective see some entrepreneurs start businesses without having the technical experience in their industry and you have wholesalers that want to know do you know what you are doing cause when you install their products you represent them if something goes wrong with these products they have to warranty it and you are a liability if you are not installing their products right she can’t give them her word cause she is not installing all that equipment she has to hire people that know how to do that
@cijntjecox8677
@cijntjecox8677 2 жыл бұрын
I agree to some extent. At the end of the day that applies to all new companies. But we always get the side eye. Again if you go back and look at the Brothers that started the tire business, they where ready to buy the tires outright, and vendors would move the goal post back, and when they would say ok, they would stop returning calls and/or say no altogether.

If you really would like to show those distributions folks that you are a force to be reckoned with start a franchise someday and trained more of us the business..
@wnfrdwnstn
@wnfrdwnstn Жыл бұрын
You read my mind - but then I thought - if I had a franchise - I STILL need to get in with the dang distributors. They are the gate keeper and they have the industry on lock. She said when ppl look for distributors in the area - she wont' come up. But she now list what brands she sells on her website. They are keeping her out on purpose.

I go thru her struggle every day!!! Too, them they don’t care about how much money you can make them or save them!!!! The hatred is that they don’t want to be around you!!! They actually love when they can look down on you and you have to look up at them!!! Black people are a threat!!! Especially a black person with money and power!!! They can’t compete on equal playing fields with us . That goes for Chinese, Japanese, Arabs and any other nation of people on the planet!!!

It is a shame that a highly skilled and competent company, such as Mercer Upfitters, had doors closed in its face because the owner is black and a woman. Racism and the good ole boy network are alive and well. It took an Executive order and an audit to be enforced to force the ole-boy networks to open up. I wish Rachel and her company continued success.

She needed to partner with or hire a white representative to approach suppliers. The industry tried to squeeze here into exiting the business before the city enforced the rules of minority inclusion.
@wnfrdwnstn
@wnfrdwnstn Жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I was thinking. I kept saying, why she didn't hire a white person. Or even go into business with a White investor, then buy them out - once she gets all the contracts. That's what our ancestors had to do to purchase homes.
