I think to understand the myth, context is really important. Egyptian mythology does have descriptions of Ra's later rule: human were angry at his rule and rebelled against him, so Ra sent Sekhmet the lioness to annihilate the rebels, but Sekhmet had blood thirst and killed anyone on sight. Human race were almost exterminated, so Ra had to send Thoth to trick Sekhmet to drink red wine instead of blood to save human race. It has been said when Osiris and Isis first ruled Egypt, people were practicing cannibalism. Osiris and Isis together introduced agriculture and law to bring Egypt to peace and prosperity. So, regardless of her intention, Isis seizing power from Ra was a good and necessary thing for Egypt. However, the act is a coup and a sin nonetheless, Isis had to suffer for what she did: later Set murdered her husband, and seized power from her, Set also sent snake/scorpion to poison her son, Horus. She had to travel around the world to resurrect Osiris and protect Horus. When Horus became an adult, Isis used various wiles and magic to help him defeat Set and regain power, but Isis also showed compassion towards Set in the end by not killing him. Isis may have character flaws, but she is the actual protagonist of the myth. Somehow modern media don't get this, and always downplay her role when telling the story.

@@Metalmorph169 I linked several common Egyptian myths to provide my own interpretations: 1) Isis took power from Ra because Ra's late rule was really chaotic and bloody (I linked name of Ra myth with Sekhmet myth), 2) Isis' power was taken and her son was poisoned, this is in parallel of what she did to Ra (linked name of Ra myth with Osiris myth).

You need to go deeper in to the idea of Thoth bringing hieroglyphs. This is an universal concept, that symbols hide the actual insight, like the symbols in your dreams are a message of your sub-consciousness, that want you to understand the what really drives you or blocks you in life. Once you got the the insight - for example with the help of a psycho-therapist, you can rule over the things, that drives you, instead of being their servant who is unaware of the meaning of these symbols. About the dreams: Look for "manifest content and latent content". But the insight of the symbols of power, when it touches the mind and the core (the heart in some cultures), becomes a ruling force upon all creation. So it is not so much the one who speaks the names of power but the power itself that rules and is lowering its wings to the one who got the insight to call for this power. For this reason the highest insight and wordlview is called "throne"; it can either stand for an well established worldview, which can lack of higher insights, but also it can stand for a worldview filled with higher insights. The quranic word of this specific - non-military power is called "Quwwah"; in the story of the Queen of Saba (Sura 27), this word is used along side the word for military power, indicating, that they had the option to either attack Salomo or showing their superiority in the knowledge of the divine symbolism (Quwaah); also in the quraniq stories Moses is commanded to "take the verses" of the Torah, with "quwaah" in to their capability to understand, and also command his followers to do it. This is the secret of the "Ark of the Covenant"; it is the human being that uses the "Quwwah" of the symbolism, which attracts the divine forces when he call for them, but got destroyed by the same if his heart does not use them for the divine purpose, but for selfish and corrupt ideas that drive him to make use of the "Quwwah". And he will finds himself ruined; for he does not even tried to look behind the symbols to got insight, but take the symbols literally and in this way misleads others to understand them correctly - for these are the cognitive biases in his mind, that drives him away to pay attention to the symbols and the way they are composed to indicate their meanings for the obeservant and disciplined one; This is the death that is caused by the Ark of the Covenant causes; it destroys the path of those who choose misleading ways, so that htey don't got any insights at all, but only their fancy. ______________________________________________________ In the same way the famous Sphinx of the greek represents this taks of being obeservant and really think; not rush; other wise the destruction of your way will follow quickly. It is the same with Medusa; her eyes are a sybolism of what drives all your biases, that will trap your mind to believe bogus stuff, and will make your mind unable to move like stone; so you have to approach the verses of symbols indirectly; like with the mirror of Athena; don't look at the verses of symbols directly, like some people look at their dreams directly, und are unable to move their mind; and stuck forever in their psychological hell; they could have looked behind the symbols - approaching them indirectly, to understand what message about your unconscious self they really want to convey through the symbols; and so get control over these hidden forces in your subconsciousness; instead of being their slave, you become their master and rules freed in your own life over your self. In the same way it is with Medusa; she is all the symbols in your head; but she is all these symbols impregnated with the mental tendency to take the wrong root first; rush before observe and really think. So you will not decypher the symbols but got eaten by the sphinx or change into to unmoveable stone from the eyes of Medusa, that you approached directly. Only of becoming aware of these forces in your mind, you can break their curse and punishment and got insight in the Ark of the Covenant - that is actually you yourself, if able to call the divine forces. The synbol of secret name of Ra hides these concepts of the "Quwwah" which often is translated as "Power"; which is why it is the name of the power of Ra. "Name of the power of Ra" is a symbol which hides its insight so that the rushing ones, the neglecting ones can not find that power that is promised behind its symbolism. It was a downgrade of rule amongst the kingdom. He maintained rule because his consciousness maintained a higher experience. Her presuming to have his power lowered the level to hers and created many enemies plus pushed old enemies to regain strength as he could no longer maintain their imprisonment. Dirty dealings, lesser motives leading to a lesser existence. Once the lesser ruling is revealed, he is always to regain authority to establish order to manifest greater energies of what had become. She kept pushing existence into lower levels because she became addicted to power rather than giving back his true claim of power. Hence, things suffer at her expenditure of powerful energies to subdue enemies when rather she should have never plotted to take his power but should have rebirthed his energies through her. He could have restored the old gods but she didn't want to give up power thinking title would be removed. This is why creation/destruction understand each other.
