------------------------------------------------
The tale of the Dangote family emerges as a compelling narrative in the annals of African entrepreneurship, a saga that transcends the typical story of wealth accumulation to embody a legacy of pioneering spirit, economic transformation, and philanthropic endeavor.
This "old money" family, deeply rooted in the fabric of West African commerce, has, over generations, not just amassed substantial wealth but has played a pivotal role in shaping the economic landscape of the continent.
From humble beginnings in the trading hubs of pre-colonial West Africa to the summit of modern industrial success, the Dangote lineage exemplifies the quintessential African success story, marked by resilience, strategic acumen, and an unyielding commitment to progress.
Aliko Dangote, the current scion of this illustrious family, stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of his forebears.
With a fortune built on the solid foundations laid by generations past, Dangote has not only expanded the family's wealth but has also steered it into new realms of enterprise and innovation.
His ventures into cement, sugar, salt, and oil have not only fortified his position as Africa's richest man but have also significantly contributed to the continent's development, providing employment, fostering economic diversification, and enhancing infrastructural development.
The Dangote family's journey from the trading caravans of the 19th century to the boardrooms of multinational corporations encapsulates a broader narrative of African resilience and entrepreneurial spirit. In the face of colonial exploitation, political upheavals, and economic challenges, the family has managed to not only preserve its wealth but also to multiply it, cementing its status as a symbol of African enterprise and ingenuity.
Moreover, the philanthropic endeavors of the Dangote family, particularly through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, underscore a commitment to addressing some of Africa's most pressing challenges. From health and education to economic empowerment, the foundation's initiatives reflect a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of philanthropy, not just as a means of alleviating immediate suffering but as a catalyst for long-term societal change.
As we look to the future, the Dangote dynasty, with its blend of entrepreneurial zeal and social consciousness, offers a model for the next generation of African business leaders.
In Halima Dangote and her siblings, we see the torchbearers of a legacy that transcends mere wealth accumulation, embodying a vision of African prosperity that is inclusive, sustainable, and forward-looking.
The Dangote family's story, therefore, is not just about the accumulation of wealth but about the power of legacy, the impact of visionary leadership, and the enduring potential of African enterprise.
It serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us that the foundations of true wealth lie not in the abundance of riches but in the values, principles, and aspirations that guide their accumulation and use.

Another Nigerian professional government blamer. What are YOU doing to improve your country? Is Dangote not from the same country as you? I hear he started his empire with a 50,000 dollar loan from his uncle. It's really not that hard to emulate his success in a big country like Nigeria, even starting with a tenth of that amount, if you stop thinking the ''government'' is responsible for everything in your life. ''Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.'' - JFK

According to TimeCamp, the median monthly salary in Nigeria is between 80,000 and 150,000 Nigerian Naira (NGN), which is approximately $190 to $355 USD based on current exchange rates. However, income distribution in Nigeria is unequal, and the average annual income varies widely depending on factors such as occupation, location, and education level. For example, a 2023 survey of over a thousand Nigerians found that 26% earn below ₦100,000 ($126) monthly, 20% had no income, 25% earned between ₦100,000 and ₦249,000 ($126 - $315), and 15% earn between ₦250,000 and ₦499,000 ($317 - $633). Only 6% earn above the global average monthly salary of $1,020 to ₦795,600 ($1,269) in a month. This is not a success story, This is a story of exploitation.

Aliko Dangote was raised by his grandfather Sanusi Dantata having lost his dad at a very young age. In the colonial times, the export of cash crops like groundnut to Europe was the mainstay of Nigeria's economy and the Dantata family was dominant in this trade. Dangote left the family business upon graduation from university in 1978 with a loan of 500 thousand Naira in 1978 from his grand father which was equivalent to about 600 thousand dollars at the time. Dangote began his business by importing and distributing goods like sugar, flour and cement and he eventually transformed into manufacturing of many of the items he used to import. He became a billionaire when he built a network of cement factories in 10 African countries. He has had virtual monopoly in commodities like cement in Nigeria for years. Dangote is twice divorced. He has 3 daughters and no son. The Dantata family headed by 92 year old Aminu Dantata is still worth billions of dollars today

Probably the best example of 'old money' in Africa? Solving local problems, and getting rich from within their OWN environment. No false supremacy, or thieving, involved. Well done to them. It's very evident why for so many years men refused women to be educated. They knew that we are natural born leaders, super smart, elegant, beautiful, nurturing, and life-giving and limitless in what we can do and achieve. The future looks feminine. Africa's future depends on its women and young girls taking their place in education, commerce and technology, not being uneducated, pregnant and ignorant. Go African Queens 👸🏽 🎉❤

@XanderDDS I see where u are going...slaves? Shame! Try gold and salt. The richest man in the world in his time, Mansa Musa, caused world inflation after flooding the Egyptian market with gold!

Did you listened to the video audio? The family business begetter stated out as an agricultural commodity trader of cash crop of Kolanut and Groundnut. This are commodity that were needed amongst other crops during European industrial revolution. Kolanut is a stimulant widely use in the pharmaceutical sector, even there is a rumour that the unique taste of the drink Coca-cola is somehow hidden in the use and processing of Kolanut. And if you know anything about the region of Kano in Nigeria, then you would understand how the groundnut pyramid of Kano was important in commercial relationship between Nigeria and Europe.

If you wanna know those engaged in such trades, look into royal families in Western Africa before the colonization of Africa, they were the ones selling people to Europeans
