You can’t judge a player by just looking at stats from previous year(s). How was the player developed and integrated into the team? How is their chemistry with other players? How were they used by their former team(s). If you just look at stats you would think the Fever is stupid to let NaLyssa Smith go at her low cost. But there’s more to the story and we know that because we saw it with our own eyes.

Jaelyn Brown is a sharp shooter. At 6' she can run, hit 3's, she has a jump shot and she can play defense. Her shot is like Kelsey Mitchells and shes 26 years old.

I just saw a YT video of her. She looked like a taller Kelsey Mitchell. She scored 21 points against the Fever in last years pre season game. She looks very quick. As a rookie she just did not get in the game that much. Chances are she will be gone. They definitely need a back up point guard. Maybe even a 5 that can also play 4 as a backup.

She was the starter for that team, except she got injured in the first game or so. Being a starter for a 12 team league at the peak of basketball means that you're one of the best 60 technically... you can say the best of the best in the world. Why was she a starter? Length and size on defense--she was one of the few guards that could average that block and defensive intensity for that horrible team + the scoring ability she has against individual matchups. Even if she doesn't start, they'll have her rights and can suspend her or delay her without losing out on her for the future--I believe I read that somewhere. She's a better player than Wallace or Saxton though.

Unfortunately with new Coach and GM. First they are bringing in players they are familiar with and then players that will fit the system. After 3-4 players(CC,KM,AB and LH), every player on the bench looked bad under Sides and it’s hard to evaluate them. New management decided to blow up the roster to win now!!

To a casual non-insider, something isn't making sense. You say they had to get rid of Grace to pay for Jaylen Brown whom, you say, is a wing, not a point guard, and who may not make the team. So the Fever are now heavy at 3, 4 and 5 (I count 8 including Jaylen, Katie Lou and Kristy Wallace, Victaria now gone) and only only two in the backcourt. So they've got two, maybe three roster spots to fill and logic says they're not going go without backups for Caitlin and Kelsey neither of whom can play every minute of every game plus what happens if Caitlin goes down from an injury or a D'J eye poke? So Lucy Olsen, at 19 and untried in the pros, could be the answer? For this they dumped Grace? Now they've got to go overseas for Caitlin or, for Kelsey, maybe risk signing Ch.C.? All this cloak and dagger stuff...

Brown's 21 on Indiana doesn't say a lot when you consider how porous was the Fever's defense. I'm holding out hope Lucy Olsen will slide under the draft radar and be available at #19.

she is there to make there roster look full, go look at the rosters of all the teams, all are over the limit excpt conn. and free ag. is not done and there is still the draft which means teams will be cutting many players. not that it matters, in 2026 the wnba will be done as they are adding 2 more teams. the wnba is not the nfl. there wont be enough good players and coaches.
