Hi Paul! Not sure if someone addressed this in the Q&A comments, but when the Brazilian gentleman asked you whether you "pretended" to do more shaves outside of your home it was a case of the meaning of the sentence being lost in translation. "Pretend" in Portuguese means "intend", so he was actually just asking if you would be doing more shaves while out and about.

I like The Secret Shave concept. Something different and fun to see you trying to guess the products. When I saw the first pass I thought wow, that looks like a very dull blade but funny I get great shaves with the Astra Green. It must be a bad combination with that razor. I also like the nice shelving in back, good taste by Mrs. H. Thanks for answering my question in Part 2. It was fun for me like I'm sure your other viewers to hear my name in one of your videos! There is no way I could guess a blade by shaving with it. Heck I even forget what blade I'm shaving with! I certainly found that to be a very interesting shave, doing basically a blind shave. It makes the day much more fun. Keep up the good work Paul.

The secret shave is a great idea,I look forward to the next one.And it would be interesting to see the performance of the soap if it was bloomed first,perhaps the scent would come out more and leave a slickness behind.The body shop shea butter is another good idea as a post shave balm.

Great video again Paul. I did have a Q & A that followed the one you answered in the Q & A videos. I think it got overlooked. I wanted you to talk about how to prevent razor burn on the neck. You did mention some thoughts on that topic. My issue is I do everything you mentioned (limited pressure, prep before shave, use shave oil, and follow grain of skin). Chris

+Mark Bedingfield Sounds nice Mark, I do both in regards to mint sauce, to make my own it's some malt vinegar with chopped mint (finely chopped) then add a half teaspoon of sugar, that is added as a personal taste.. that's it. Enjoy.

It's really difficult to pick the right ones... Can you (soooner or later) line up a set based on the same fragrance as you have done for example with Lemon? I used DR Harris Marlborough soap for my shave tonight. It didn't have good slickness either, which was surprising given how it's supposed to be a top-notch soap. But a nice lather, you have to keep applying to go over spots.

Yes, some of the high end soaps do lack slickness.....not good when you pay top prices.....but it's not that often thankfully.....

great shave Paul, I ordered 2 sticks of arko soap, one for use and one for display. I like the retro packaging. I also managed to grab a Palmolive stick on amazon canada for 4.99, that is really cheap in this country. can't wait to try them. I'm also wondering if the Dr harris sticks are the same formulation as their pucks. I have a windsor puck and I find it has good slickness and smells fantastic. what time should I arrive for supper?

This was fun - I tried also to guess what those products are based on your comments dunring the shave - my guess: Valobra shave stick, sound of the blade in the razor i thought it woulbe Merkur blade - cologne: no clue, cream - by texture - guessed on prep - but you would smell it so was wrong. I guessed Astra sp too! lol i could tell a bit as it is my favorite blade but it did seem a bit tuggy for you i noticed.I found that to be odd Astra sp are normally sharp blades and work fantastic in all my razors new and vintage ask Alistair if he tried removing the lettering with alcohol or maybe wiped the blade i heard that removes a coating from blades i dont know for sure Pual just something I'v heard wash but never wipe blades! maybe its just a wives tale! lol food for thought please let me know if you have heard different. keep up the good videos this was a fun one! love the flowers and the shelves both look amazing!

+Juan Lujan Thanks Juan, I have heard different things about coatings etc...but Alistair only covered the blade with a pen, so shoudn't make any difference to the blade perfomance really, it seems maybe this Astra isn't a good match for the Parker....good fun though.

+Juan Lujan Yeah - as paul stated - it was a Sharpie marker - i did nothing else to the blade - it could be just a bad pack or batch - the blade came from a large multi pack (i think its 100 blades)

I played the guessing game along with you Paul and found it interesting. Proud to say I got the blade correct and specifically the type of Astra as well because you mentioned the tugging and while the SP does not tug with me I do notice a bit more resistance compared to the SS. With the soap I went with la Toja because you mentioned it and because it is one of the few white non Arko sticks of that diameter and therefore was unpleasantly surprised I got it incorrect ; ) when you revealed it was DR Harris. For the other products I could not really make educated guesses. All the best to you and miss H.

That blade looked a tad 'bowed' as it came out of that tube, Paul..I wouldn't mind betting it degraded the performance of it a little. I guessed the soap funny enough. I have a DR Harris stick and it's not terribly slick and tends to need a swipe between passes. Fun shave mate!

That shelving unit is beautiful!!!! Marlborough stinks and it lathers like crap. I threw mine away after two uses... good riddance. Awesome on the blade guess!!! Astra for me are fantastic and I have a very coarse, thick beard, never any tugging.

Thats ---Eyeopening Paul ,The way you where struggling with that Parker and blade my guess would have been a Treet or otherwise ,An Astra Platinum -it sounded like you where shaving with a dull axe ....I'm thinking twice about purchasing Astras kind of a let down for me...after all is said and done the secret to a good shave for me would be a blade with longevity and smoothness!!! Feather, Kia,Etc. are gonna be all too sharp , I don't care what slickness or cushion , angle of razor or lightest weight you put on a safety razor your setting yourself up for irratation....

+William Owen William, I am half Italian and half Arabic and have a very thick, coarse beard, the Astra Green are fantastic, I never have any tugging, they are very sharp and smooth. Don't let this stop you, it could have been a dud blade....it does happen.

William Owen Voshkod blades are faaantastic, in a DE89 style razor, it tugs a bit for me, I only use it in my Muhle R41. I shaved this morning with an Astra and I must say, it really has the perfect balance of smooth to sharp. go to Tryablade.com and buy a few.
