It would make sense for the taescii to bow before a septim because it was only when they knew that the emperor was a dragonborn that they stopped their invasion to cyrodill, so they do have a connection to that, religious, cultlike or weirder, but it's there

One theory that I wish Emil and the rest of the writing team were competent enough to canonize is that the Last Dragonborn, with the backing of the Jarls, the Greybeards, and whoever they side with in the Civil War, puts their claim to the throne forward. Dragon blood founded the Empire, and it should be what restores the Empire.

It's almost sad because Titus Mede was SAID to be a failure of a monarch, but he was in fact pretty wise and lucid. Yes, the peace treaty with the Dominion sounded like a treason and a false victory, but the dude did the exploit of retaking the Imperial City while outnumbered, so that the cost of capitulation would be less harsh on the empire's citizens' shoulders, having the capital back. A strong symbol and a proof that the Empire wasn't dead and burried. So yes, the White Gold Concordat is utter trash, but it was the less shitty treaty Mede and the Dominion could come to terms with (english isn't my first language, I hope my sentence is correct xD ), and both parties got home while thinking of the next war to come, that would come swiftly. Titus needed a bit of a reprieve to gather the last Empire forces still operational and mass recruit in hope of unity shown by every provinces. And the Dominion a bit of time to poison the chains of command within the Empire in wait of the great invasion they were planing. The real problem came from Hammerfel. The Redguards were too good at kicking some Mer asses, and it gave ideas to Ulfric, poor outraged Ulfric, which shrewed manipulation from the Thalmor and tragedy had turned against the Empire. Man, people always compare Oblivion and Skyrim, complaining that the story was better in it, but the lore is very good still in Skyrim =D

The whole problem with the Mede's was that they were not Dragonborn, and the Septim's were Dragonborn. Therefore, the next emperor should be the Last Dragonborn.

And by the way: Hammerfel had "disbanded" legion as trainers and extra troops. If Hammerfel was part of Empire at time of peace treaty, Dominion would definately demand presence there. So free Hammerfell with "former" imperial troops had any right to keep fighting Dominion without any potential sunctions to Empire for resisting. Mer lives longer, then men, but men can outbreed mer, so the more territories are not controlled by Dominion, the easy second war for humanity would be. And it _will_ be second war, even Dominion calls it "first war". Mede was definately cunning. P.S. English is not my native so sorry for mistakes

Well, the Septims being of dragon blood, makes sense that Akaviri did allow him to live and even help him or help his decendants. After all, the Akaviri became the blades when they tried to invade Tamriel and found the emperor to have dragon blood. If his blood was strong, then he or his lineage did survive, even thrived. He may even come back with his own akaviri army. TES VI would be great if this was the storyline as the Aldmeri dominion moved to conquer again.

I personally subscribe to it being a self made hit, with the other guy being a loose end to the conspiracy the emperor wanted to disposed of. Part of the plan of the Thalmor was to keep thr unpopular emperor in charge, the same reason they wanted the civil war to happen. As much as the signing of the the treaty was bad, most evidence points that it was necessary. Even if Hammerfel eventually won their war for freedom after I think 5 years, that doesn't mean it would have been the same if the actual war was still happening, since the Thalmor wouldn't have been able to get the same resources in saying they were fighting the empire. But it was perceived that way, a lot of failure was seen on the emperor, and if he was able to have himself killed, by the Brotherhood of all things, he could keep all that bad reputation for himself. They even put in a fake to be killed to really sell that it was difficult. I would trust they had a new emperor ready, as decided by the council, which would ready the empire to strike back at the Aldmeri dominion. It was why the emperor was so calm when you meet him.

My guess is that the Dragonborn becomes the new Emperor of the Empire, and that it'll be confirmed that he did in fact join the Empire in the Skyrim civil war, as it's only common sense to join the Empire. Do keep in mind that Bethesda did decide to scrap the entire plan where the Dragonborn joined forces with the Stormcloaks. And with the Dragonborn as Emperor, he becomes a second Talos/Tiber Septim, starts a new conquest of Tamriel and even Akavirr, where we as the player character gets to help the Dragonborn and the Empire to take over both Tamriel and Akavirr. It's just my theory though, and a vast majority of the stuff i say always ends up being what they go with. And no, i'm not like Jarl Igrod of Morthal or Olava the Feeble, i simply manages to have the right guess in the end, for some odd reason, and i don't work for Bethesda, so don't get any ideas.

I enjoy the theories you publish. However I think your last comment isn't so much a theory as a reality based on history. TES has such a wealth of lore and some great story writing. The problem is with each successive game BGS have messed up the version control for the lore. I can understand that the mystery and open storylines is needed for future games, however BGS keep adding to the lore, bending it to fit the game mechanics they want to sell. It's starting to make TES lore a little less meaningful and at some point there is a loss of the focal point that guides the game. A bit like how Starfield has panned out. More about the eye candy without the time to build quality story material.
