I love the customer rolled coins! My local bank i get rolls from every week knows i want any of the hand rolled coins! And i have a local convenient store lets me look through all the rolls and pick out what i want! But i hand roll and put my mark on the wrapper so i dont go through a roll i have already searched. The key for me is to just swap rolls with them. That way they are not getting low on coins and i usually put 51-52 cents in my rolls to make sure they are never short. I have actually gotten many older rolls with the latest dates in the 60's and 70's with super nice coins in them! Thanks for the video!

That's great advice, and you're absolutely right. Those shoebox and coffee can coins that have been sitting in a closet for the past 30-40 years can be a gold mine. Here's another amazing source that not many people consider, as they are a bit harder to get - coin machine bags. I went through some $50 penny bags back in late 2022 and found a 1994 P FS-801, a 1995 D FS-103 and a 1992 D Close AM within a 5-bag stretch. Last year a customer dropped off at the bank 35,000 pennies (along with nickels and quarters) that he'd been saving for over 40 years, since I was a kid. It was seven bags of pennies, and I bought every one of them. I saw wheat cents and an unusual amount of BU copper and early zinc memorials in the bags, which got me even more excited than the wheats. I haven't gone through them yet, but they definitely look promising. I'm sitting on over half a million unsearched pennies now, mostly coin machine bags from the same machine. One day I hope to have time to get through them, and above all not regret hoarding them. Thank you for the video 👍

It only makes sense that there can be big scores in customer wrapped rolls. If you search enough rolls you can score at least silver. Thanks!

I agree. Last week my favorite teller sold me $500 in quarters and I was lucky enough to find three W mints , a silver 1963 and two spitting eagles. This is the best way to find good coins.

It's not super rare, but I finally found a 2023 p with extra V mark in my actual pocket change. I was pretty stoked about that.

Thanks, and I totally agree. It seems like at least 90 percent of the rolls I get in a brick from my bank are obviously searched. And in my area of Virginia, it's getting harder to find banks that even accept customer-rolled coins. My main problem is finding a bank anywhere near me that will actually order me rolls. None of the banks in my town offer any ordering at all. Larger branches in bigger towns often take my name and number and say they'll order, but they never do. It's been really frustrating over the past couple of years.
@CoinHELPuКүн бұрын
You want to relieve the bank of rolls they just got, you don't ask to order these.

I buy coins for the place o work a lot. Popped a roll of dimes one day into the register. The whole roll was silver

I agree that self rolls are the best! But it's rare to get decent condition pennies worth selling .

But it's defeating because it is so rare to get decent condition pennies.

I searched rolls and found some worth keeping. However, the only bank with a coin counting machine charged a 10% fee. So bought a bag of coin wrappers and put all the searched coins in wrappers and deposited them. I guess I will start putting my initials on the rolls with the word "searched" so your viewers don't waste your time.

My bank ordered me 1,000 in halves. Found one proof, one gold plated, a couple NIFC. Also a few nice ones. No silver😭 Try the coin star machine. Found 30 dollars in quarters, yes they didn't look in the return part 👍. happy 2025.

I keep hearing people saying "we want machine rolls, because then they're unsearched." And I'm always thinking, no... the vast majority of hand rollers are from people cashing in their old change jars. Most of them don't search the coins. After a while you kind of recognize when you're on a box that was clearly an old change hoard. The machine wrappers are usually junk. It's all stuff that's changed hands over and over and been picked through. Getting lucky on old collection dumps or change jar cash-ins is definitely more rewarding in the long run. Two separate occasions I've gotten 150+ silver dimes each time. I sold both scores for over $200.

I got lucky in November and picked up $400 in nickle bags from a bank who likes me... 13 on 50D, and 15 to 30 each of 38D 38S 39D 39S and 2 hennings... along with over 100 mostly pristine proofs 1938 to 2016... basically 10 full sets of Jeffersons except the silvers... only 25 silvers in total. If I had not gone thru these bags they would have gone into Circulation

I don’t agree because it could be someone that re roll there searches that’s what it Usually is but yes if it’s some old lady I agree
@CoinHELPuКүн бұрын
There's nothing to disagree with, your chances are greater if you get self rolled rolls from thrown back change. I was specific about that.
@hustleathomedadКүн бұрын
@ I’m not Disagreeing with the old lady rolls, but personally I do better ordering boxes but yes I’m not disagreeing with old lady rolls..
@CoinHELPuКүн бұрын
Like I said, there's nothing to disagree with, I know what these coins where found in and it wasn't boxes of coins. It was thrown back change, rolled up and took to the bank. Now if your boxes have self rolled coins then ok.

I have to disagree on this one. All of the “self-wrapped” rolls from the bank that I’ve looked through have had no good finds. They were clearly someone else’s dump 💩 LOL!
@CoinHELPu14 сағат бұрын
You can disagree, but I have a better saturation sample than you do, and most are found in self wrapped rolls. Your experience isn't the definition here.

Hey Daniel... thanks for those great tips. I do have a good relationship with all the tellers in my bank. They do hold any customer wrapped coins for me and over the years also given me over two hundred Ike dollars. The best find was not from my bank though, in early 2018 my girlfriend stopped at a bank in south Jersey to see if she could find a few customer wrapped pennies for me. She hit the jackpot. The bank teller told her that earlier that day an older gentleman deposited three hundred dollars in pennies. My girlfriend took all of them. Turned out to be some sort of collection dump. None of them were newer that 1982. There were a lot of nice finds in the coins I have searched thru. I gave a few hundred rolls to a KZbinr that does roll hunting videos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWbPhKJjeLOGqMU
